How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
MCLA asks international applicants for secondary and college transcripts translated into English and formally evaluated, and the evaluation must be course-by-course from one of five approved organizations: The Evaluation Company, Scholaro, CED, WES or ECE.
MCLA's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. We translate the records first; the evaluation is something you order from the agency.
MCLA at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
MCLA asks for a course-by-course evaluation from an approved organization (international students), and WES accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES rule), as does ECE; the catalog asks for transcripts translated into English without saying who translates (catalog). Deadlines

Who needs the evaluation at MCLA
The course-by-course evaluation applies to every transcript from an institution outside the US and Canada, for first-year and transfer applicants alike, so a Canadian transcript and a record from a US-assisted school abroad skip it (international students).
The catalog adds that the transcripts must be translated into English, and that the Certification of Finances must be in before an I-20 is issued (catalog).
What the evaluation agencies ask for the translation
WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept translations by applicants.
ECE accepts complete, literal translations, lets applicants translate themselves, and sells an $85 waiver under which it translates internally.
The Evaluation Company asks for an ATA-certified translator; for TEC, eVerbary can assign one on request through a free quote.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to MCLA
Send the translation to the approved organization with your records; it sends the course-by-course evaluation to MCLA. The application itself goes through the Common Application (International students).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For MCLA that means we translate your records; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from an approved organization.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
