How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

Liberty University does not evaluate foreign transcripts itself: applicants with secondary or college study outside the US need an evaluation from a NACES member, and the online admission page says international transcripts must be translated into English and include a full course-by-course NACES evaluation.

Liberty's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the evaluation is something we do not provide.

Liberty at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Liberty asks for an evaluation from a member of NACES (international undergraduate admissions), and WES accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); ECE, another NACES member, accepts any complete, word-for-word translation. Worth knowing about Liberty

NACES only

Liberty does no foreign evaluations.

Online: translate first

Then a full course-by-course report.

Preliminary, then final

Final evaluation before semester two.

Liberty requirements in detail

Translation

Residential: your documents may need to be translated into English and will require a foreign credential evaluation (International student admissions). Online: international transcripts must be translated into English (Online admission requirements).

Who may translate

Not stated by Liberty; set by the NACES agency (WES: a professional translator).

Evaluation

From a NACES member, for secondary and college records completed outside the US (International undergraduate admissions); online programs ask for a full course-by-course report (Online admission requirements).

Exemption

Schools accredited by the US Department of Education, or international schools with US accreditation, usually need no NACES evaluation (International student admissions).

Preliminary records

An evaluation of a preliminary transcript works for admission; a NACES evaluation of the final credential is needed before second-semester registration (International undergraduate admissions).

Delivery (online)

Unofficial copies may be faxed or emailed; official course-by-course evaluations come directly from the NACES evaluator (Global Liberty admission process).

Deadline

No set deadline for international undergraduates; Liberty suggests applying at least 6 months ahead (International undergraduate admissions).

Residential and online: same agency, different wording

Liberty's international pages put the evaluation at the center: any high school diploma or college transcript from outside the US goes to a NACES member, because Liberty only reviews accredited US coursework itself (international admissions).

The online admission page is more specific: international transcripts must be translated into English and include a full course-by-course NACES evaluation before you submit them (online requirements).

For Global Liberty online programs, you may first fax or email unofficial copies of the course-by-course evaluation with the transcripts; the official report must reach Liberty directly from the NACES evaluator (Global Liberty admission process).

Two evaluations for students still in school

If you apply before finishing secondary school or a degree, a NACES evaluation of the preliminary transcript is enough for admission, but Liberty needs a NACES evaluation of the final credential before you can register for the second semester (undergraduate; graduate).

Translate the final diploma and transcript as soon as they are issued, so the second report is ready in time.

WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator, not by the applicant; ECE accepts complete, word-for-word translations, including your own, and sells an $85 translation waiver.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • High school diploma and secondary transcripts
  • College or university transcripts and degree certificates
  • Final diploma and transcript, for the second evaluation

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Liberty

  • The translation goes to the NACES agency with your records; the agency sends its evaluation to Liberty, directly or through an electronic official transcript system (Global Liberty admission process).

  • On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Liberty that means we translate your records; the NACES evaluation is ordered by you from the agency of your choice.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Liberty evaluate foreign transcripts?

No. Liberty does not convert foreign transcripts to US standards; you use a NACES agency first (International student admissions).

Which agency should I use for Liberty?

Any NACES member; Liberty points to the NACES member list (International student admissions).

I studied at an American-accredited school abroad. Do I need an evaluation?

Usually not; Liberty says international schools with US accreditation do not need a NACES evaluation (Global Liberty admission process).

Can I apply with a preliminary transcript?

Yes, but you must submit a NACES evaluation of the final credential before registering for the second semester (International undergraduate admissions).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
