KCC requirements in detail
Translation
Certified English translations of foreign secondary credentials, and English translations of college records (Admissions: international transcripts; packet).
Who may translate
Your academic institution, University Language Services or another certified translation service (International admissions packet (PDF)).
Evaluation
Official evaluation of secondary and any post-secondary study abroad by a NACES member; it must note US high school equivalency, no GPA needed (Admissions: international transcripts).
Agencies KCC knows
ECE, WES and Educational Perspectives; only NACES members are accepted (Admissions: international transcripts).
Who it applies to
International students abroad or in F-1 status, and permanent residents planning to use financial aid (Admissions: international transcripts).
Copies first
Unofficial copies of records and translations can be uploaded through the online applicant instructions or mailed to International Student Affairs (International admissions packet (PDF)).
Deadlines
From abroad: July 1 fall, November 1 spring. F-1 transfers: August 1, December 1, May 1 (International admissions packet (PDF)).
KCC names who may translate
Few community colleges say who may translate; KCC does.
Its packet accepts translations from your academic institution, from University Language Services or from "another certified translation service" (International admissions packet (PDF)).
It asks for unofficial copies of secondary and post-secondary transcripts, diplomas and exit exam results with English translations, and to know which documents your country needs it points you to Educational Perspectives' documentation requirements by country of education.
The admissions page adds that the secondary records themselves must arrive in a sealed envelope from the school, with the certified English translations and the official evaluation (Admissions: international transcripts).
Permanent residents and college credit
The rule is not only for F-1 students: a permanent resident planning to use financial aid submits the same foreign high school records, certified translations and evaluation (Admissions: international transcripts).
For college courses taken abroad that you want counted, submit a transcript evaluation request together with a course-by-course evaluation.
KCC recommends getting the evaluation before registering, because registering first can affect financial aid and course placement; the agency mails the report to Admissions & Registration or emails it directly (Admissions: international transcripts).
Need a certified translation for KCC?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts and diploma
- Results of school-leaving exams, such as CAPE for Trinidad
- College or university transcripts and degree certificates
- Course descriptions, for a course-by-course evaluation
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to KCC
Upload the unofficial copies and their translations through the online applicant instructions, or mail them to KCC, attention International Student Affairs (International admissions packet (PDF)).
The NACES agency sends its official evaluation to Admissions & Registration by mail or email (Admissions: international transcripts).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For KCC that means we translate your records; the NACES evaluation is ordered by you from an agency such as ECE, WES or Educational Perspectives.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does KCC accept a translation from a translation company?
Yes. Its packet accepts translations from another certified translation service, as well as from your school or University Language Services (International admissions packet (PDF)).
Do I need both a translation and an evaluation?
Yes, for foreign secondary records: certified English translations and an official NACES evaluation noting high school equivalency (Admissions: international transcripts).
Which evaluation agencies does KCC accept?
Any NACES member; KCC lists ECE, WES and Educational Perspectives as agencies it is familiar with (Admissions: international transcripts).
I am a permanent resident. Does this apply to me?
Yes, if you plan to use financial aid (Admissions: international transcripts).
What are the deadlines?
July 1 for fall and November 1 for spring from abroad; August 1, December 1 and May 1 for F-1 transfers (International admissions packet (PDF)).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
