Requirements checked on October 28, 2026 from Holy Cross College's public pages (sources).
Holy Cross College requires every applicant attending school outside the US, regardless of citizenship, to provide official translated transcripts in English with an explanation of the grading system, and it does not say who must translate.
Holy Cross College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Applicants may also submit their documents to InCred for evaluation, which is required for NAIA athletes and is something we do not provide.

Sample translation: a Congolese secondary school transcript
This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with a fictitious student. The PDF starts with the signed certification page, and the translation follows the original line for line: every abbreviation is explained, stamps, seals and signatures are noted in brackets, and the grid stays the same, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice
- Two school years in the same grid as the original: every subject, grading period, exam and total, so each grade can be read against its maximum.
- The French rating abbreviations are translated (TB becomes VG, Very good), and every abbreviation is explained in a translator's note at the foot of the same page, including one the original never defines.
- Dates are written the US way (the original's 02/07/2015 is February 7, 2015).
- The photo, seals and signatures are noted in brackets where they appear.

Holy Cross College requirements in detail
Translation
Secondary and post-secondary applicants must provide official translated transcripts in English (International applicants).
Who may translate
Not stated (International applicants).
Grading system
An explanation of the grading system is required with the translation (International applicants).
Who it applies to
Applicants attending a school outside the US, regardless of citizenship (International applicants).
Evaluation
Optional through InCred; required for international applicants competing in NAIA varsity athletics (International applicants).
Waiver
Only if the transcript is already in English and follows an American grading system (International applicants).
English
TOEFL iBT 71, IELTS 6.0, PTE 53 or Duolingo 95, unless the last three years were in English (International applicants).
Translation and the grading scale
Holy Cross pairs the translation with an explanation of the grading system (International applicants).
Translate the grading legend printed on the transcript, or the school's official grading scale, with the transcript itself, so the admissions office can read both. eVerbary reproduces grades exactly as recorded and never converts them.
The requirement is waived only when a transcript is already in English and follows an American grading system, so applicants from English-speaking schools with a different scale still need the conversion described below (International applicants).
Where Holy Cross's page differs
The requirement asks for official translated transcripts in English, with a grading explanation, and says applicants may submit documents to InCred for evaluation (requirement).
The FAQ on the same page uses "translated transcript" for a conversion to the US grading scale, explains that English transcripts still need one for that reason, says Holy Cross accepts them from InCred, and notes there are no fee waivers for the InCred evaluation (FAQ).
A language translation and an InCred evaluation are different documents; ask admissions which one your file needs if your records are already in English.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Holy Cross College
Scanned documents can be uploaded through the Holy Cross Applicant Portal, as an "Other" document on the Common Application, or sent by email (International applicants).
The Certification of Finances and its supporting documents, signed, in English and in US dollars, go through the Applicant Portal (preferred) or by email (International applicants).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Holy Cross that means we translate your transcripts and grading scale; the InCred evaluation, if you need one, comes from InCred.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Holy Cross College require a certified translation?
It asks for official translated transcripts in English and does not say who translates (International applicants). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
I am a US citizen who studied abroad. Does the rule apply to me?
Yes. It applies to applicants attending a school outside the US, regardless of citizenship (International applicants).
Do I need an InCred evaluation?
Only if you plan to compete in NAIA varsity athletics; otherwise it is optional (International applicants).
My transcript is in English. Do I need anything?
Yes, unless it follows an American grading system; the FAQ says English transcripts still need to be put on the US scale (International applicants).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
