How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Gavilan College asks prospective F-1 students for official transcripts from every college attended inside and outside the US, translated into English and evaluated for equivalent credit and course content; it does not say who must translate or which evaluator to use.
Gavilan College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The evaluation is a separate report from an evaluation service, which we do not produce.
Gavilan at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Gavilan's international page says college records "must be translated into English and evaluated", without saying who translates (international students); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 26, 2026.

One sentence, two steps
Gavilan's international students page puts its whole rule in one sentence: official transcripts from colleges you attended inside and outside the US must be translated into English and evaluated for equivalent credit and course content.
In practice that is two steps in order: a certified translation of each college transcript and degree certificate, then an evaluation of the records and translation by an evaluation service.
Gavilan names no agency, so check the evaluator's own translation rule before ordering; see translation for credential evaluation.
Because the evaluation is about course content as well as credit, translate the full transcript with course titles, hours and grading scale; if the evaluator asks for course descriptions, those need a translation too.
Deadlines and programs for F-1 students
All documents must arrive before the deadline: May 15 for fall, September 15 for spring and March 15 for summer for applicants abroad, and at least eight weeks before the term for applicants already in the US.
Decisions take about three to five weeks, and the acceptance letter and I-20 are sent by mail. Gavilan does not accept F-1 applications to Nursing or Cosmetology (International students).

Uploading the translation to Gavilan
Send the translated transcripts with the International Admissions Application, the $100 fee, TOEFL scores, the Statement of Financial Support and a photo, as Gavilan's page lists (International students).
For the evaluation, send your records and the certified translation to the evaluation service you choose, and have the report sent to Gavilan.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Gavilan that means we translate your transcripts and certificates; the evaluation of equivalent credit and course content comes from an evaluation service.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
