How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Florida National University asks that any transcript in a language other than English include an official certified English translation, and it does not say who must make it.
Florida National University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
International transcripts must also be evaluated by a NACES-approved service; FNU names The Evaluation Company and Josef Silny & Associates, both of which ask for a translator certified by ATA when the translation comes from outside, and eVerbary can assign one on request. The evaluation itself is something we do not provide.
FNU at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
FNU's international admissions page asks for an "official certified English translation" of any transcript not in English and does not restrict who makes it (international students); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. FNU requirements in detail
Translation
Transcripts in a language other than English must include an official certified English translation (International students).
Who may translate
Not stated by FNU (International students). If the same translation goes to TEC or Josef Silny, both want an ATA-certified translator.
Evaluation
International transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES-approved service; FNU names The Evaluation Company, with a custom discounted FNU application, and Josef Silny & Associates (application requirements).
Records
Official high school transcripts issued directly by your school, from a school accredited by your country's Ministry of Education or a US accrediting commission (International students).
Timing
The complete application must reach FNU at least 30 days before the semester; I-20 students arrive one week before the start date and take at least 12 credits (International students).
English
Career programs: TOEFL 62 or IELTS 5.5 (Application and requirements).
A certified translation, then a NACES evaluation
FNU states the translation rule the same way on its international page and on its general application page: transcripts not in English come with an official certified English translation (international students, application requirements).
Separately, international transcripts go to a NACES-approved evaluation service. FNU names two: The Evaluation Company, which built a custom application for FNU at a discounted rate, and Josef Silny & Associates.
Both accept outside translations only from translators certified by the American Translators Association (Josef Silny also takes officially certified translators abroad), so if one translation will serve FNU and the agency, ask eVerbary for an ATA-certified translator through a free quote.
FNU's 2023 undergraduate checklist for international students gives WES, ECE and SpanTran as examples, asks for a document-by-document evaluation and lists a $250 registration fee, while the current international page states a $150 fee for non-Florida residents (checklist, International students).
Follow the current pages and confirm the evaluation type with Admissions.
When records cannot be obtained
FNU reviews some files case by case.
Applicants without a high school diploma but with transcripts from a foreign university may still be considered if the documents are original and valid, and exiles from Cuba or other countries under political repression, whose governments may block the release of records, are handled individually (International students).
If you have no secondary school documents at all, FNU recommends a high school equivalency test. Whatever records you do have, translate them in full, including stamps and seals, so Admissions can read them.
Need a certified translation for FNU?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- High school diploma or certificate of completion
- High school transcripts, every year
- Foreign university transcripts, if you studied at college level
- Bank letter or statements, if not in English
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to FNU
Send the certified translation with your official transcripts to the FNU Admissions Office; the evaluation agency sends its report to FNU (Application and requirements). The whole file must arrive at least 30 days before the semester (International students).
eVerbary delivers a signed PDF; on request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for FNU, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For FNU that means we translate your transcripts; the NACES evaluation is ordered by you from TEC, Josef Silny or another NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does FNU require a certified translation of my transcripts?
Yes. Any official transcript not in English must be accompanied by an official certified English translation (International students).
Which evaluation company should I use for FNU?
A NACES-approved service; FNU names The Evaluation Company, with a custom discounted FNU application, and Josef Silny & Associates (Application and requirements).
I left Cuba and cannot get my school records. Can I still apply?
FNU says it works with exiles from Cuba and other countries under political repression case by case, and reviews foreign university records the same way (International students).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for TEC or Josef Silny?
Yes, on request. Ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for an FNU evaluation and needs a translator individually certified by ATA. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English; no other languages.
How early must my documents arrive?
At least 30 days before the semester in which you plan to enroll (International students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
