How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Daemen University publishes no translation rule of its own: all international transcripts, including high school records of first-year applicants, must go through a credit evaluation service for a course-by-course evaluation, with The Evaluation Company named first and any NACES member accepted.
Daemen's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
If you use The Evaluation Company, Daemen accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary when the translator is individually certified by ATA, which eVerbary provides on request.

Daemen asks for a course-by-course evaluation and accepts any NACES member (international admissions requirements), and WES accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); ECE does too, while The Evaluation Company and Josef Silny ask for an ATA-certified translator in the US. Daemen requirements in detail
Translation
Daemen states no translation rule; the evaluation agency sets it, since it must read your records before evaluating them.
Evaluation
All international transcripts, through a credit evaluation service, course-by-course to the American grading system and course equivalencies (International admissions requirements).
Agencies
The Evaluation Company requested; WES for transfer and graduate students; Josef Silny Associates or ECE; any NACES member accepted (International admissions requirements).
First-year applicants
The service must evaluate high school coursework course by course (International admissions requirements).
English proficiency
Duolingo 110, IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL; letters stating the medium of instruction are not accepted as proof (International admissions requirements).
Program minimums
Physical Therapy and Nursing 1+2+1 first-year applicants need a 3.1 GPA and TOEFL 100 or Duolingo 120 (International admissions requirements).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES requires an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation service, uploaded in your WES account; it does not accept translations by applicants and does not translate (WES).
ECE accepts a complete, literal translation in the same format from anyone, including you, and sells an $85 waiver under which it translates for the report (ECE).
The Evaluation Company, which Daemen asks applicants to use first, accepts an outside translation only from a translator certified by ATA, or sells its own (TEC).
Josef Silny wants US translations made by ATA-certified translators and translations from abroad by officially certified professionals (Josef Silny).
For either of those, ask eVerbary for a free quote and say which agency it is for.
First-year, transfer and graduate applicants
Daemen applies the evaluation rule to everyone.
First-year applicants must make sure the service evaluates high school coursework course by course; transfer and graduate students may use WES as well as TEC (International admissions requirements).
The evaluation is what Daemen uses to place your grades on the American scale, which matters because programs set their own minimums: a 2.5 GPA for most first-year applicants, 3.1 for Physical Therapy and Nursing 1+2+1, 2.0 for transfers and 3.0 for most graduate programs (International admissions requirements).
Need a certified translation for Daemen?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- High school transcripts or mark sheets, for the course-by-course evaluation
- Secondary school diploma or leaving certificate
- University transcripts, for transfer and graduate applicants
- Degree certificates
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Daemen
The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records, not to Daemen. The agency sends its course-by-course evaluation to Daemen; you apply through the online application ($50 fee) and can reach admissions at admissions@daemen.edu (International admissions requirements).
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Daemen, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Daemen that means we translate your records for the agency; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered and paid by you after the translation.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Daemen require a certified translation?
Daemen itself sends all international transcripts to an evaluation service (International admissions requirements); the agency asks for the translation. WES wants one from a professional translator (WES).
Do I have to use The Evaluation Company?
No. Daemen requests TEC but also names WES, Josef Silny and ECE, and accepts any NACES member (International admissions requirements).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for TEC or Josef Silny?
Yes, on request through a free quote, for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) or Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page). ATA certifies no other languages into English (TEC rule).
Can a medium-of-instruction letter replace the English test?
No. Daemen does not accept letters stating the mode of instruction as proof of English proficiency (International admissions requirements).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
