How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Chaminade University of Honolulu publishes no transcript translation rule of its own: every international student, undergraduate or graduate, submits an official course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member, and Chaminade does not accept transcript translations in place of evaluations.
Chaminade's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency, which writes the evaluation we do not provide; bank statements must also be translated into English.
Chaminade at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Chaminade requires a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member (international admissions), and WES, a NACES member, accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); ECE accepts one as well, while TEC, which has a Chaminade discount, asks for a translator certified by ATA. Worth knowing about Chaminade
No translation instead
Only an evaluation replaces the original transcript.
Even English schools
Records from English-speaking schools abroad need one too.
60-day bank statements
Translated into English; unofficial translations accepted.
Chaminade requirements in detail
Translation
Chaminade states no rule on who translates transcripts; they reach it through a NACES evaluation, and a translation alone is not accepted. The translation is what the agency needs before it can evaluate.
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency (see below).
Evaluation
Official course-by-course evaluation with GPA, credits and grades from a NACES member, sent electronically by the agency; unofficial evaluations are not accepted (Chaminade: international students).
English-medium schools
Students from English-speaking institutions abroad still submit an evaluation (Chaminade: international students).
Bank statements
Dated within 60 days and translated into English, especially names; unofficial translations are accepted (Chaminade: international students).
TEC option
The Evaluation Company (formerly SpanTran) has a discounted custom application for Chaminade (Chaminade: international students).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
Chaminade accepts any NACES member and points to TEC's discounted application (international admissions).
The Evaluation Company asks for an outside translator certified by the American Translators Association, or translates through its own team; for TEC, eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator through a free quote, for the languages ATA certifies.
WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator or service and not the applicant. ECE accepts complete, literal translations in the original's format, lets applicants translate themselves, and sells an $85 Translation Waiver.
Bank statements: the one translation Chaminade reads
For the Certificate of Finances, Chaminade wants bank statements dated within the last 60 days that show the bank, account holder, balance and currency, translated into English, names especially; it accepts unofficial translations (Chaminade: international students).
A certified translation keeps every figure and name as printed, which avoids questions about whose account it is. The I-20 is not issued until the certificate is reviewed.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Chaminade
Academic translations go to the NACES agency with your records; the agency sends the evaluation electronically to Chaminade admissions (Chaminade: international students). Bank statements and their translations go with the Certificate of Finances.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
At Chaminade that means the NACES course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from the agency; Chaminade does not accept our translation in its place.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send Chaminade a translated transcript instead of an evaluation?
No. Chaminade does not accept transcript translations in place of evaluations (Chaminade: international students).
Which evaluation does Chaminade need?
An official course-by-course NACES evaluation with GPA, credits and grades, sent electronically by the agency (Chaminade: international students).
Do my bank statements need translating?
Yes, into English, names especially; unofficial translations are accepted (Chaminade: international students).
Can I use an eVerbary translation with TEC?
TEC asks for an outside translator certified by ATA (TEC). eVerbary can provide one through a free quote, for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) or Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
