How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Hawaiʻi Pacific University asks international undergraduate applicants to submit transcripts with an English translation, and does not say who must translate them; unofficial transcripts are enough for the admission decision, official ones are needed before you register.
Hawaiʻi Pacific University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
HPU asks for no outside evaluation and grants up to 30 credits for some European secondary diplomas, based on the grades it reads in your records.
HPU at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
HPU's international admission requirements say transcripts "must be submitted with English translation" and do not restrict who translates (admissions requirements); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that translation. Policy checked on October 26, 2026.

HPU requirements in detail
Translation
Transcripts must be submitted with English translation (HPU: international undergraduate admissions requirements).
Who may translate
Not stated.
What transcripts show
All high school courses with grades or scores for each subject (HPU: international undergraduate admissions requirements).
Official or unofficial
Unofficial transcripts accepted for admission; official ones must arrive before registration (HPU: international undergraduate admissions requirements).
Evaluation
None required; HPU evaluates AP and IB results and transfer credit itself, case by case (HPU: international undergraduate admissions requirements, international transfer credit).
European diplomas
Up to 30 semester credits for the Danish diploma, French Baccalaureate, German Abitur, Dutch VWO, Norwegian Vitnemål, Swedish diploma and Swiss Matura, with minimum grades (HPU: international transfer credit information).
A translated transcript at each stage
HPU's first requirement for international undergraduates is academic transcripts listing every high school course with its grades or scores, submitted with an English translation (admissions requirements).
You can apply with unofficial copies and their translation; the official transcripts must reach HPU before you register for classes. Translating once, from the official document, gives you a translation that serves for both steps.
Credit for European secondary diplomas
HPU grants up to 30 semester credits of the 120 needed to graduate for some secondary diplomas, on grade thresholds it sets per country: for example a Danish diploma equivalent to a 3.0 US GPA, a Dutch VWO average of 7, Swedish diplomas at the equivalent of 3.0, and per-exam credits for the French Baccalaureate, the German Abitur and the Swiss Matura (international transfer credit).
Because HPU reads the grades from your records, the translation must keep every mark and the grading scale exactly as issued; it does not convert them. Credit is decided case by case and does not guarantee sophomore standing.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to HPU
Apply online at hpu.edu/apply and upload the transcripts with their English translation; official transcripts follow before registration, and AP or IB results go directly to the Office of International Admissions (HPU: international undergraduate admissions requirements). eVerbary can email the translation directly to that office on request.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
