How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Chaffey College asks F-1 applicants for official transcripts from every secondary school attended, and transcripts not in English must be translated and submitted together with the original-language version; Chaffey does not say who must translate.
Chaffey College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Credit for courses from a university abroad also needs an official evaluation from one of eight agencies Chaffey lists, which we do not provide; two of them, ACEI and The Evaluation Company, ask for a translator certified by ATA, which eVerbary provides on request.
Chaffey at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Chaffey's admission documents checklist says non-English transcripts "must be translated" and submitted with the original language, without saying who translates (checklist); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Chaffey requirements in detail
Translation
Official transcripts from all secondary schools attended; non-English transcripts must be translated and submitted with the original language (International Student Center: admission documents checklist (PDF)).
Who may translate
Not stated.
Admission level
You must have completed high school or be in your final year; Chaffey links an equivalency chart for guidance (International Student Center: admission requirements).
Where to upload
Apply online; after the admissions letter arrives, upload the required documents through the student portal (International Student Center: how to apply).
Financial statement
Bank statement dated within the past six months showing at least $31,000 (International Student Center: admission documents checklist (PDF)).
Foreign university credit
An official evaluation from an approved agency, submitted to Admissions and Records; see a counselor first (Admissions and Records: international transcripts).
Deadlines
New students outside the US: May 1 for fall, October 15 for spring; transfers in the US: July 31 and December 15 (International Student Center: application and deadlines).
High school records: the translation and the original together
Chaffey's admission documents checklist asks every applicant for official transcripts from all secondary schools attended, and it is specific about form: a transcript not in English must be translated and submitted with the original language.
Upload both, the original scan and the translation, as one set.
If you are in your final year, Chaffey can admit you on the transcripts you have so far (International Student Center: admission requirements); see high school diploma translation for what the translation includes.
The same checklist asks for a bank statement from the last six months showing at least $31,000 for one year of tuition, fees and living costs, or a sponsorship letter. If the statement is not in English, translate it too so the office can read the amount and the date.
Credit for university courses abroad: Chaffey's eight agencies
Courses completed at a foreign accredited university can count toward an associate degree at Chaffey only after an approved agency evaluates them, and the official evaluation goes to Admissions and Records.
Chaffey accepts APIE, ACEI, Arizona International Credential Evaluators, ECE, ERES, IERF, SpanTran: The Evaluation Company, and WES, and asks you to see a counselor before ordering one, to check whether your goal needs it.
Credits are counted as earned credits only, and foreign grade point averages do not appear on the Chaffey transcript (Admissions and Records: international transcripts).
Each agency sets its own translation rule.
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept translations by applicants; ECE asks for complete, literal translations and also lets applicants translate.
ACEI and The Evaluation Company ask for a translator certified by the American Translators Association; for those two, eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request.
Need a certified translation for Chaffey?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts, every school attended
- Bank statement or sponsorship letter
- University transcripts, for an evaluation of foreign credit
- Degree certificates and course descriptions, if the agency asks for them
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Chaffey
Upload the translation with the original-language transcript in the student portal; the link comes in your admissions letter (International Student Center: how to apply).
For credit, the translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records, and the agency's official evaluation is submitted to Admissions and Records (Admissions and Records: international transcripts).
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Chaffey, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Chaffey that means we translate your transcripts and bank statement; the evaluation of university courses for credit comes from one of the agencies Chaffey lists.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Chaffey require a certified translation?
Its checklist says non-English transcripts must be translated and submitted with the original, without naming a translator (International Student Center: admission documents checklist (PDF)). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Do I send the original transcript or only the translation?
Both. Chaffey wants the translation submitted with the original-language transcript (International Student Center: admission documents checklist (PDF)).
Which agencies can evaluate my foreign university courses?
APIE, ACEI, Arizona International Credential Evaluators, ECE, ERES, IERF, SpanTran: The Evaluation Company, and WES (Admissions and Records: international transcripts).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for Chaffey?
Yes, on request, if you use ACEI or The Evaluation Company: ask for a free quote and say the translation is for that agency. Prices are $34.95 per page for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian, and $44.95 for Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian; ATA certifies no other languages into English.
Will my foreign grades count in my Chaffey GPA?
No. Evaluated credits count as earned credits only, and foreign grade point averages are not included on the Chaffey transcript (Admissions and Records: international transcripts).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
