Worth knowing about CNM

Professional, by name

Certified professional translations for financial papers.

Two phases

Send documents only when CNM asks.

From a NACES member.

CNM requirements in detail

Translation

Certified professional translations for all financial documents not issued in English (Global Education: apply, phase two).

Who may translate

A certified professional translator (Global Education: apply, phase two).

Academic records

High school diploma and academic records uploaded with the application, unofficial; official records needed on arrival if accepted (phase one).

Evaluation

For transfer credit: an official course-by-course evaluation by an approved NACES member (transfer credit).

Financial documents

Dated within three months, on official letterhead with a signature or stamp, showing the account holder and balance; a sponsorship letter if the holder is not you (Global Education: apply, phase two).

Where it goes

Phase one online; phase two documents only after a Global Education staff member asks (Global Education: apply, phase two). Transcripts for credit: CNM Records Office, 525 Buena Vista SE (Transfer credit evaluation information).

Phase two: financial documents in certified translation

CNM splits the application in two.

Phase one is the online application, English proficiency and the $50 fee, with uploads of your high school diploma and academic records; phase two, after an invitation letter, collects the I-20 documents (Global Education: apply, phase one).

CNM asks you not to send them until a Global Education staff member requests them (Global Education: apply, phase two).

For the proof of funds, every bank letter, statement, loan approval or scholarship letter not issued in English needs a certified professional translation, and the original must be dated within three months, on letterhead, signed or stamped by an official, and show the final balance (Global Education: apply, phase two).

Translate the sponsorship letter too if it is not in English. Because the three-month limit applies to the document, order the translation once the statement is issued; most orders are delivered within a few hours.

Credit for college work abroad

Transfer credit is evaluated by the CNM Records Office, and for international transcripts students must provide an official course-by-course evaluation by an approved NACES member (Transfer credit evaluation information).

The agency sets the translation rule: WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator, and ECE accepts any complete, literal translation or translates internally for an $85 waiver. Courses from outside New Mexico need a C or better to be considered.

Need a certified translation for CNM?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Bank letters or statements, if not in English
  • Sponsorship letter and scholarship or loan letters
  • High school diploma and transcripts
  • College or university transcripts, for a course-by-course evaluation

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to CNM

  • Financial documents and their certified translations go to CNM Global Education when a staff member asks for phase two (Global Education: apply, phase two). We can send the translation directly to the admissions office by email on request.

  • For transfer credit, the NACES agency's course-by-course evaluation goes to the CNM Records Office (Transfer credit evaluation information).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For CNM that means we translate your financial and academic documents; the course-by-course evaluation for credit is ordered by you from a NACES member.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does CNM accept a translation from a professional service?

Yes. It asks for certified professional translations of financial documents not issued in English (Global Education: apply, phase two).

When do I send my bank documents?

Only after a CNM Global Education staff member asks for phase two documents (Global Education: apply, phase two).

Do I need my high school diploma translated for CNM?

CNM asks you to upload the diploma and academic records with the application, unofficial at first (Global Education: apply, phase one); it does not state a translation rule for them, so ask Global Education.

How do I get credit for courses taken abroad?

Send an official course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member to the CNM Records Office (Transfer credit evaluation information).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
