How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

Cabrillo College asks F-1 applicants for transcripts from every high school and college attended, translated into English, and accepts them as scanned copies; it does not say who must translate.

Cabrillo College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

An evaluation is not needed to be admitted, but credit for college work abroad requires a course-by-course report from a NACES member delivered in a sealed envelope, which we do not produce.

Cabrillo at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Cabrillo's admission requirements say transcripts "must be translated into English" and may be sent as scanned copies, without restricting who translates (admission requirements); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Who may translate

Not stated.

Copies

Foreign transcripts may be sent as scanned copies; US college transcripts come electronically or in a sealed envelope (International student admission requirements).

Official transcripts with English translation, English course descriptions or catalog, and a course-by-course NACES evaluation with semester units, delivered sealed, all given to a Cabrillo counselor (foreign transcript information).

Limits on foreign credit

Not for Cal-GETC (except the language requirement), IGETC or CSU GE; English courses taken abroad generally do not count (Foreign transcript information (linked from cabrillo.edu)).

Deadlines

Fall: July 1 (May 1 suggested); spring: December 1 (November 1 suggested) (International student admission requirements).

Admission: translated scans, no evaluation

Cabrillo's international admission requirements ask for transcripts from every high school and college you attended, plus a copy of any diploma or certificate not shown on the transcript.

Transcripts must be translated into English and may be sent as scanned copies, and an evaluation is not required for admission.

Bank statements must already be in English and dated within six months, and the file needs proof of $26,000 for a year of study (plus $4,000 per F-2 dependent).

If your high school diploma does not appear on the transcript, translate it as well, since Cabrillo asks for both. F-1 students already in the US send their US college transcripts electronically or in a sealed envelope (International student admission requirements).

Credit for college work abroad: the counselor packet

For credit, Cabrillo's foreign transcript information sheet asks you to give a counselor three things: official transcripts including an English translation, detailed course descriptions or the college catalog in English, and an official evaluation from any NACES member with course-by-course reports and semester unit equivalencies, delivered to Cabrillo in a sealed envelope.

The counselor, the International Student Office, Articulation and departments review the file and place a written evaluation of accepted courses in your counseling record.

The sheet suggests seeing a counselor before paying for an evaluation.

The evaluation is advisory for transfer: your university does its own, foreign transcripts do not count for Cal-GETC (except waiving the language requirement), IGETC or CSU GE, and the UC and CSU systems rarely admit students for a second bachelor's degree.

Where Cabrillo's pages differ

The admission requirements list official transcripts from all high schools and colleges, translated into English.

The international FAQ asks applicants not to send foreign college transcripts for credit, because Cabrillo cannot evaluate them, and to contact an evaluation service instead.

Read together: translated transcripts go with the application, and the credit evaluation comes from the agency.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Cabrillo that means we translate your transcripts, diplomas and course descriptions; the sealed course-by-course report comes from a NACES evaluation agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a credential evaluation to be admitted to Cabrillo?

Can I send scanned copies of my translated transcripts?

Yes. Cabrillo says translated transcripts may be sent as scanned copies (International student admission requirements).

Who can translate my documents for Cabrillo?

Cabrillo asks for transcripts translated into English without saying who must translate (International student admission requirements). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.

What do I need for credit for my university courses abroad?

Official transcripts with English translation, English course descriptions and a sealed course-by-course report from a NACES member, given to a counselor (Foreign transcript information (linked from cabrillo.edu)).

July 1 for fall and December 1 for spring, with May 1 and November 1 suggested (International student admission requirements).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
