How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

Bowie State University asks international applicants, undergraduate and graduate, for a certified English translation of any document in another language, and for an evaluation from a current NACES member showing the US equivalent of coursework taken outside the US; it does not say who must translate.

Bowie State University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The NACES evaluation, from SpanTran, WES, ECE or another member, is something we do not provide.

Bowie State at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Bowie State's international admissions page asks for a certified English translation of documents in another language and does not restrict who makes it (international admissions); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Bowie State requirements in detail

Translation

A certified English translation of any document in a language other than English (International admissions).

Who may translate

Evaluation

All international applicants submit an evaluation showing the US equivalent of coursework taken outside the US, from a current NACES member; SpanTran Pathways, WES and ECE are named (International admissions).

Deadlines (outside the US)

June 1 for fall, with documents due by June 30; November 1 for spring (International admissions).

Deadlines (transfers in the US)

July 1 for fall, with documents by July 31; December 15 for spring (International admissions).

Where documents go

Undergraduate: admissionsdocs@bowiestate.edu; graduate: gradadmissions@bowiestate.edu; or by mail to the Office of Admissions, 14000 Jericho Park Road, Bowie, MD 20715 (International admissions).

A certified translation and a NACES evaluation

Bowie State asks for both, at the undergraduate and graduate level: a certified English translation of any document in another language, and an evaluation of foreign credentials from a current NACES member (international admissions).

The same certified translation can go to Bowie State and to the agency.

WES accepts a word-for-word translation from a professional service; ECE accepts a complete, literal translation or sells an $85 waiver; SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, accepts outside translators only if certified by ATA, which eVerbary provides on request.

Deadlines with a month for documents

Applicants outside the US who apply by June 1 for fall have until June 30 to send supporting documents; transfers already in the US who apply by July 1 have until July 31. Spring is stricter: everything by November 1 from abroad, or December 15 for transfers in the US (International admissions).

  • University transcripts and degree certificates

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Bowie State

  • Email the certified translations to admissionsdocs@bowiestate.edu (undergraduate) or gradadmissions@bowiestate.edu (graduate), or mail them to the Office of Admissions (International admissions).

  • The NACES agency sends its evaluation separately; we can also email the translation directly to Bowie State on request.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Bowie State that means we translate your records; the NACES evaluation is ordered by you from the agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Bowie State accept a translation from a translation company?

Bowie State asks for a certified English translation and does not say who must make it (International admissions). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets that wording.

Do I also need a credential evaluation?

Yes. All international applicants submit a NACES evaluation of coursework taken outside the US (International admissions).

Which agencies does Bowie State accept?

Any current NACES member; SpanTran Pathways, WES and ECE are named (International admissions).

When are the deadlines?

From outside the US: June 1 (documents by June 30) for fall and November 1 for spring; transfers in the US: July 1 (documents by July 31) and December 15 (International admissions).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
