How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Bennington College asks international first-year applicants for official high school transcripts, sent by the school, with an official translation if they are not in English, and transfer applicants for college transcripts in the original language with an official translation; it does not say who must translate.
Bennington College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Credit for work at a college abroad may need a WES evaluation, which you order and we do not provide.
Bennington at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Bennington asks for "an official translation" submitted along with the originals and does not restrict who translates (international applicants); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 27, 2026.

Worth knowing about Bennington
Official translation
With the originals, every year of school.
Original language
College transcripts as issued, plus English.
WES if asked
For credit from abroad; at least a month.
Bennington requirements in detail
Translation (first-year)
Official transcripts from all years of high school, sent by your school, with an official translation if not in English (Applying as an international student).
Translation (transfer)
College transcripts from abroad in the original language, with an official translation (transfer students).
Who may translate
Not stated (Applying as an international student).
Diploma
The equivalent of a US high school diploma is required (Applying as an international student).
Evaluation
Only if Bennington tells you, after receiving your transcript: WES, at your cost, which normally takes at least a month (Transfer students).
Uploads
Transfer applicants receive a personal status page for supplemental materials (Transfer students).
Originals and translation together
Bennington's wording is the same for both groups: the translation is official, and it travels with the originals.
First-year applicants have their school send official transcripts for every year of high school, with an official translation if they are not in English (Applying as an international student); transfer applicants with college work abroad submit official transcripts in the original language and an official translation along with them (Transfer students). Bennington does not say who must translate.
When WES comes in
Credit for work at foreign institutions may need a WES recommendation.
Bennington tells you when it receives your transcript; you then send the transcript to WES yourself, pay for the evaluation, and allow at least a month (Transfer students).
WES accepts a word-for-word translation by a professional translation service, so the translation you sent Bennington can go to WES too.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Bennington
Your school sends the transcripts; send the translation with them or upload it on your application status page, which Bennington opens for transfer applicants after the application arrives (Transfer students). eVerbary can email the translation directly to the admissions office on request.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Bennington that means we translate your transcripts; the WES evaluation, if Bennington asks for one, is ordered by you.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Bennington require an official translation?
Yes, for transcripts not in English, submitted along with the originals (Applying as an international student).
Who may translate my transcripts?
Bennington does not say (Applying as an international student); a certified translation from a professional service qualifies.
Will I need a WES evaluation?
Only if Bennington asks after receiving your transcript, for credit from a foreign institution (Transfer students).
How long does WES take?
Bennington says WES normally needs at least one month (Transfer students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
