How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Ball State University asks international undergraduate applicants to upload each transcript in its original language together with a certified English translation, and does not say who must translate.
Ball State University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
From Fall 2027 Ball State reviews foreign credentials itself; a NACES or AICE evaluation, which we do not provide, is needed only if International Admissions asks, and graduate applicants are told to use an "approved translation provider" that the pages do not define.
Ball State at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Ball State's steps to admission ask undergraduates for the original-language transcript and a certified English translation (steps to admission), without restricting who translates; a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Ball State requirements in detail
Translation (undergraduate)
The original-language transcript and a certified English translation, for every high school or institution attended (International admissions: steps to admission).
Who may translate (undergraduate)
Not stated (International admissions: steps to admission).
Translation (graduate)
A certified English translation completed by an approved translation provider, accompanying the original-language document; the pages do not list the approved providers (graduate transcripts).
Credential evaluation
From Fall 2027 not required unless International Admissions requests it; then from a NACES or AICE member, course-by-course with US equivalency, credits, GPA and recognition, sent by the agency (International admissions: steps to admission).
Where to upload
The Cardinal Landing portal; uploads take 24 hours to show on your checklist (International admissions: steps to admission).
Transfer applicants
Course descriptions or syllabi in English for every course you want credited; non-US transfers need a GPA equivalent to 2.5 (International admissions: steps to admission).
Deadlines
Fall: June 15; spring: November 15; graduate summer: March 15; $60 application fee (International admissions: steps to admission).
From Fall 2027, Ball State reads the transcript itself
Beginning with applications for Fall 2027, applicants with credentials from outside the US submit their transcripts directly to Ball State for review, and a credential evaluation is not required unless International Admissions specifically asks for one (steps to admission).
That makes the translation the key document: undergraduates upload a copy of the official transcript from every high school or institution attended, in the original language and with a certified English translation, and the team contacts you if more is needed. See high school diploma translation.
If an external evaluation is requested, it must come from a current NACES or AICE member and include the US equivalency of your study, US credits and GPA, the recognition of each institution and a course-by-course listing, sent by the agency with school code 1051 or to admissions@bsu.edu.
Ball State does not accept evaluations you supply yourself (graduate transcripts). Applicants pay for translations and evaluations.
Graduate applicants and the "approved translation provider"
For graduate admission the wording is different: documents not issued in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation completed by an approved translation provider, attached to the original-language document (graduate transcripts, International admissions: steps to admission).
Neither page says which providers are approved. Before ordering a translation for a graduate program, ask International Admissions at intadmit@bsu.edu whether a certified translation from a professional service is accepted.
Graduate applicants submit unofficial transcripts to be considered, either for the full academic record or the highest degree, depending on the program, and official transcripts showing the degree conferral within the first semester if they were still enrolled elsewhere when admitted (Graduate admissions: transcripts).

- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Ball State
Upload the original-language transcripts and their certified translations to the Cardinal Landing portal after submitting the application (International admissions: steps to admission).
eVerbary delivers the translation as a signed PDF you can upload; we can also email it directly to the admissions office on request.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Ball State that means we translate your transcripts and diplomas; a NACES or AICE evaluation, if International Admissions asks for one, comes from an agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
What translation does Ball State accept?
For undergraduates, a certified English translation together with the original-language transcript; it does not say who must make it (International admissions: steps to admission). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Do I need WES or ECE for Ball State?
Not from Fall 2027 unless International Admissions asks; if it does, use a NACES or AICE member (International admissions: steps to admission).
Who is an "approved translation provider" for graduate admission?
The graduate pages do not say (Graduate admissions: transcripts). Ask intadmit@bsu.edu before ordering.
Do my course descriptions need translating?
Yes. For transfer credit, course descriptions must be in English (International admissions: steps to admission).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
