IEP and Special Education Translation from English
Special education is where a district's translation duties are most specific. eVerbary translates IEPs, evaluation reports, prior written notices and procedural safeguards from English into the parent's language for $24.95 per page, and provides interpreters for the IEP meeting itself.
$24.95/page
Up to 250 words, from English into any of our 60+ languages. Certified or standard, the same price.
24-hour standard
For 1–3 pages; longer files take proportionally longer. As little as 30 minutes on request for regular clients.
Invoice and PO
One district account, a PO number on the invoice, a W-9 on request, net 30 for orders placed on account.
What the regulations ask for
Under IDEA, a prior written notice has to be given in the native language of the parent unless it is clearly not feasible to do so (34 CFR 300.503(c)), and the agency has to take whatever action is necessary to ensure that the parent understands the proceedings of an IEP meeting, including arranging for an interpreter for a parent whose native language is not English (34 CFR 300.322(e)). The regulations define "native language" in 34 CFR 300.9.
Those are the rules for the paper and the meeting. A translated IEP satisfies the first; an interpreter at the meeting satisfies the second. Most districts need both for the same family, and we provide both.
The documents
What districts send us for special education:
- The IEP and the amendments to it
- Evaluation and re-evaluation reports, with the test names and score descriptions
- Prior written notices and meeting invitations
- Procedural safeguards notices
- Section 504 plans and their notices
- Progress reports on IEP goals
What matters in the translation
IEP language is precise on purpose: a goal that says "with 80% accuracy in 4 out of 5 trials" must keep exactly those numbers. We reproduce numbers, dates, service minutes and names exactly, and translate the terms of art consistently from the first page to the last.
Evaluation reports name tests and scales that have no equivalent in other languages; the translator keeps the test name in English and explains it once, so a parent can look it up and an evaluator in the family's country can read it.
How a district orders
The district office opens one team account and invites schools and departments as members, with the office as admin. Staff upload the document, choose the language and place the order; a billing cycle set by the admin means they never need a card. Everyone in the team sees every order, so the next school finds the translation that already exists.
Delivery is a PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request. For recurring notices, ask in the order chat to keep the same terminology from one month to the next.

Frequently asked questions
Do you provide interpreters for IEP meetings?
Yes, virtual or in person. See interpretation services and the pages for Spanish and Haitian Creole.
Should an IEP translation be certified?
It does not have to be, and it costs the same either way. Ask for certification when the translation may be used as evidence in a dispute or a due-process hearing.
Can staff see all special-education orders?
Within the team, yes. If a case manager should be the only one to see a student's file, tell us and we limit the order.
How much does it cost to translate a school notice from English?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, into Spanish, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese, Arabic or any other language we offer. A certified translation and a standard one cost the same. Accounts that translated 20, 50, 100 or more pages in the previous month get 10%, 15%, 20% off.
Can the district be invoiced, and what are the payment terms?
Yes. Orders placed on account go on an invoice that carries your purchase-order number, due 30 days after its date (net 30), payable by card, check or wire transfer. We send a W-9 and complete vendor registration forms. Accounts can also be set to one invoice a week, every two weeks or every month. See invoicing and payment.
Is it machine translation?
No. A professional human translator in the United States translates every document and a second reviewer checks it before delivery. See how we translate.
