How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026

The Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy tells foreign pharmacy graduates to begin with FPGEC certification, which NABP sends directly to the Board, then register as a pharmacy intern and earn 1,500 hours before applying for the NAPLEX and the PA MPJE; it publishes no translation rule of its own.

Documents in another language are translated for the FPGEC, which accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, but not your own.

We translate your pharmacy records and license for the FPGEC process; the certificate, the intern registration and the hours are between you, NABP and the Board.

Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Pennsylvania requires foreign graduates to obtain FPGEC certification first (Board FAQ), and the FPGEC accepts an official translation from "a professional translation service in any country" (FPGEC Bulletin), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets the rule that applies. Worth knowing about Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy

FPGEC, then intern

Certification comes before Pennsylvania intern registration.

Sent by NABP

NABP gives the Board an official copy of your FPGEC certificate.

500 hours in a pharmacy

Of 1,500 hours, at least 500 outside any academic program.

Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy requirements in detail

Translation

The Board publishes no translation rule for foreign graduates; documents in another language are translated for the FPGEC, under its rule (State Board of Pharmacy and FAQ, FPGEC).

Who may translate

Set by the FPGEC: an official translator or a professional translation service in any country, never the applicant; every page signed and dated (FPGEC Bulletin: Documentation Requirements).

FPGEC certification

Required for licensure by examination and by reciprocity; NABP must provide the Board an official copy of the certificate directly (Pharmacist licensure guide).

Evaluation

Inside the FPGEC process: ECE evaluates your pharmacy education for NABP (ECE).

Intern hours

1,500 hours, of which at least 500 outside an academic program and in a licensed pharmacy; hours earned in another US state are verified by that state's board (Pharmacist licensure guide).

Exams

NAPLEX and the PA MPJE, after education and intern hours are proven; register with NABP before the Board can authorize you (Pharmacist licensure guide, FAQ).

Pennsylvania reads the certificate, not your transcripts

The Board's FAQ gives foreign graduates a short sequence: obtain FPGEC certification from NABP, register as a pharmacy intern to earn 1,500 hours, then apply for the pharmacist license and take the exams (State Board of Pharmacy and FAQ).

The licensure guide adds that NABP sends the Board an official copy of your FPGEC certificate, and that the Board may already have it if you registered as a Pennsylvania intern (Pharmacist licensure guide).

Translation therefore happens upstream, for NABP and ECE.

Their rule: an official word-for-word translation, seals and stamps included, with the translator's original signature and date on every page, on official stationery, with an accuracy attestation and proof of the translator's credentials; no self-translation and no photocopies (FPGEC Bulletin: Documentation Requirements).

Order through a free quote and say it is for the FPGEC, so we confirm the format before you pay.

The 500 hours outside school

Graduates of foreign schools with FPGEC certification must earn 1,500 intern hours, at least 500 of them outside an academic program and in a licensed pharmacy; hours earned in another US state are verified directly by that state's board, with a statement that they were earned outside school (Pharmacist licensure guide).

The guide does not describe credit for pharmacy practice abroad, so plan on earning the hours as a registered intern.

Need a certified translation for Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Pharmacy school transcripts, for the ECE report inside FPGEC
  • Pharmacy degree certificate
  • Pharmacist license or registration from your country, for NABP
  • Marriage certificate or court order, if your name changed

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
  • Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.

Submitting the translation to Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy

  • Translations go with your FPGEC paperwork, by mail: education records to ECE and license documents to NABP (ECE, FPGEC). NABP then sends the certificate to the Pennsylvania Board (Pharmacist licensure guide).

  • eVerbary can mail the translations to you in sealed, signed envelopes: choose the hard copy at checkout with your address ($19.95 Priority or $37.95 Express in the US, $49.95 or $78.95 to other countries) and write in the order notes that they are for the FPGEC.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.

For Pennsylvania that means we translate the documents you send through the FPGEC process; the certificate sent by NABP, the intern registration and the hours are outside what we do.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
