How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
The New Jersey State Board of Accountancy does not review transcripts itself: they go to NASBA, which decides exam eligibility and whether you meet New Jersey's education requirements, and education completed abroad must be evaluated by NASBA International Evaluation Services (NIES).
NIES requires certified English translations from any member of the American Translators Association, your university or the ministry of education, so it accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, an ATA corporate member translating in the US.
We translate your records; NIES prepares the evaluation and sends it to CPA Examination Services.

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
The Board sends transcripts to NASBA (Board FAQ), NASBA's New Jersey page requires NIES for education outside the US (CPA Examination Services), and NIES accepts certified translations from any ATA member, refusing only private providers outside the United States (NIES requirements). eVerbary is an ATA corporate member (#273062) translating in the US. New Jersey Board of Accountancy requirements in detail
Translation
The Board has no translation rule of its own; NIES requires a certified English translation of any transcript or diploma not in English before it processes your file (NIES).
Who may translate
Under the NIES rule: any ATA member, your university or the ministry of education; not private providers outside the US (NIES).
Evaluation
Education completed outside the US must be evaluated by NIES; the original evaluation must reach CPA Examination Services directly from NIES (CPA Examination Services: New Jersey).
What the report must show
An equivalency summary, a credential analysis (country, degree, year, institution), a course-by-course listing and a course credit analysis (CPA Examination Services: New Jersey).
Education
Format
Verbatim, in the same format as the original, typed, signed and dated, with the translator's contact details (NIES requirements).
Status
US citizenship is not required; non-citizens request a Division Issued Identification Number from the Board (Board of Accountancy FAQ).
New Jersey hands the review to NASBA
The Board's FAQ tells candidates to send transcripts to NASBA, which reviews exam eligibility and whether you meet New Jersey's education requirements, and not to the Board's office (Board of Accountancy FAQ).
For education abroad, NASBA's New Jersey page names one agency, NIES, and treats an evaluation without a copy of the international transcript as incomplete (CPA Examination Services: New Jersey).
So the NIES rule decides who may translate: a verbatim English translation in the original's format, typed, signed and dated, with the translator's contact information, from an ATA member, your university or the ministry (NIES).
NIES wants all materials within 90 days of the date you apply (NIES), so order the translation before you apply.
Where New Jersey's pages differ
The Board's FAQ lists 150 semester hours to sit for the exam (Board of Accountancy FAQ).
NASBA's New Jersey page allows the exam with 120 hours and asks for 150 hours, or two years of experience, when you apply for the license (CPA Examination Services: New Jersey).
NASBA applies the rule for the exam; ask the Board if you plan to rely on the 120-hour path.
Need a certified translation for New Jersey Board of Accountancy?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- University transcripts or mark sheets from every institution attended
- Degree certificates and diplomas
- Records of accounting and business courses, with syllabi if NIES asks
- Marriage certificate or court order, if your name changed
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
- Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.
Submitting the translation to New Jersey Board of Accountancy
The translation goes to NIES with your evaluation application; NIES then sends the original evaluation to CPA Examination Services, with a copy of the international transcript (CPA Examination Services: New Jersey).
eVerbary can mail the translation to NIES in a sealed, signed envelope: choose the hard copy at checkout with NIES's address ($19.95 Priority or $37.95 Express in the US) and write in the order notes that it is for NIES and New Jersey.
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for New Jersey Board of Accountancy, what it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.
For New Jersey that means we translate your records for NIES; NIES prepares the evaluation, and NASBA decides your eligibility for the Board.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
