Nevada State Board of Nursing: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
Yes, through the evaluation: Nevada BON asks for a credential evaluation, and Josef Silny & Associates (JS&A), one of the agencies it accepts, takes translations by a translator individually certified by ATA, whom eVerbary assigns on request.

The Nevada State Board of Nursing has no translation rule of its own: international graduates applying by exam need a TruMerit (formerly CGFNS) CES Professional Report or a Josef Silny & Associates (JS&A) evaluation, sent directly to the Board, before they receive authorization to test.
TruMerit wants nursing transcripts translated by the school or by TruMerit itself, while JS&A accepts outside translations made in the US from translators certified by the American Translators Association (ATA), and eVerbary assigns one on request.
We translate your records for JS&A; we do not order the evaluation or the English exam.
Nevada BON at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Nevada accepts a TruMerit CES Professional Report or a JS&A evaluation (international graduates), and JS&A accepts outside translations made in the US when the translator is ATA-certified (JS&A services), so a translation by an ATA-certified translator, which eVerbary assigns on request, meets JS&A's rule. Worth knowing about Nevada BON
TruMerit or JS&A
The two evaluations Nevada names for exam applicants.
No ATT before approval
Evaluation and English exam come before NCLEX.
Endorsement: English transcript
The Board may still ask for an evaluation.
Nevada BON requirements in detail
Translation
The Board publishes no translation rule; the evaluation agency sets it (Additional requirements for international graduates, rev. 1/26).
Who may translate
TruMerit: nursing transcripts translated by the school, otherwise by TruMerit for a fee (TruMerit). JS&A: professional, certified translations (JS&A nursing application); in the US, by ATA-certified translators (JS&A services).
Evaluation (exam)
All international graduates applying by exam complete a TruMerit CES Professional Report or a JS&A Report of Evaluation of Educational Credentials; official results go directly to the Board in Las Vegas (Additional requirements for international graduates, rev. 1/26).
Endorsement
A copy of official transcripts, in English, showing the nursing degree and graduation date, plus the related learning experience (RLE) report if applicable; the Board tells you if it also needs the evaluation (Additional requirements for international graduates, rev. 1/26).
English proficiency
Unless you graduated in a listed English-speaking country: TOEFL iBT 84 with 26 in speaking, PTE Academic 56 with 63 in speaking, or IELTS Academic 6.5 with 6.0 in each module (Additional requirements for international graduates, rev. 1/26, exam instructions).
Timing
No Authorization to Test until the Board has approved the evaluation and received a passing English score (Additional requirements for international graduates, rev. 1/26).
Other requirements
A fingerprint card, and a Social Security number or individual taxpayer ID number (Additional requirements for international graduates, rev. 1/26).
TruMerit or JS&A: who translates
TruMerit's CES Professional Report asks that nursing transcripts arrive in English, translated by the school you attended, and offers its own translation for a fee if the school cannot (TruMerit: CES Professional Report); only the secondary school diploma may be translated by you or someone you choose.
JS&A's application for boards of nursing, which lists Nevada, asks for "professional, certified English translations" that supplement the originals your school sends directly (JS&A: application for boards of nursing).
Its services page requires ATA-certified translators for outside translations made in the US (JS&A: services and translations), while its FAQ says most professional translations are acceptable, subject to review (JS&A: FAQ). An ATA-certified translator satisfies all three.
The order Nevada sets for exam applicants
The Board lists the steps: open a Nevada Nurse Portal account, apply for the TruMerit or JS&A evaluation, take the English exam, submit the licensure application and fingerprint card, and apply for the NCLEX once the evaluation and English results are in (Additional requirements for international graduates, rev. 1/26).
With JS&A, the translation has to be ready when you apply to the agency, so it is the first thing to order.
Endorsement: "in English"
Nurses already licensed in another state send a copy of official transcripts "in English" (Additional requirements for international graduates, rev. 1/26).
The Board's page does not say whether a certified translation can stand in for a transcript issued in another language, or who should make it; ask the Board before relying on one.
It may also require the TruMerit or JS&A evaluation, and then the agency's rule applies.
Need a certified translation for Nevada BON?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Nursing school transcripts, with hours of instruction and grades
- Nursing diploma or degree certificate
- Course descriptions (syllabus) and the related learning experience (RLE) report
- Nursing license or registration from the country of education
- Secondary school diploma, which TruMerit also lets you have translated by anyone you choose
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
- Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.
Submitting the translation to Nevada BON
For JS&A, the translation goes with your signed application, emailed to processing@jsilny.org or mailed, while your school sends its records and your licensing authority its verification directly; JS&A sends the evaluation electronically to the Board and to you (JS&A: application for boards of nursing).
The Board receives the evaluation from the agency, not from you; application forms and instructions are on its Forms/FAQs page.
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Nevada BON, what it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.
For Nevada that means we translate your nursing records for JS&A; we do not order the evaluation or the English exam, and we cannot send documents on behalf of your school or licensing body.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Nevada Board of Nursing accept certified translations?
The Board has no translation rule of its own; exam applicants go through a TruMerit or JS&A evaluation (Additional requirements for international graduates, rev. 1/26). For JS&A, a translation by an ATA-certified translator meets its rule for translations made in the US (JS&A: services and translations).
Which evaluation does Nevada accept?
A TruMerit (CGFNS) CES Professional Report or a Josef Silny & Associates Report of Evaluation of Educational Credentials (Additional requirements for international graduates, rev. 1/26).
When can I schedule the NCLEX?
Only after the Board has approved your evaluation and received a passing English score; until then it does not issue the Authorization to Test (Additional requirements for international graduates, rev. 1/26).
I am licensed in another state. Do I need an evaluation?
Endorsement applicants send a copy of official transcripts in English; the Board notifies you if it also needs the TruMerit or JS&A evaluation (Additional requirements for international graduates, rev. 1/26).

Yes, on request. Ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for a JS&A evaluation for the Nevada State Board of Nursing and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English.
