How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026

The Georgia State Board of Accountancy does not evaluate education itself; NASBA handles applications for Georgia, and education earned abroad must be reviewed by NASBA International Evaluation Services (NIES).

NIES requires certified English translations of transcripts and diplomas from any member of the American Translators Association, your university or the ministry of education, so it accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, an ATA corporate member translating in the US.

We translate your records for NIES; NIES prepares the report and sends it to CPA Examination Services.

Georgia Board of Accountancy requirements in detail

Translation

The Board has no translation rule of its own; NIES requires a certified English translation of any transcript or diploma not in English before it processes your file (NIES).

Who may translate

Under the NIES rule: any ATA member, your university or the ministry of education; not private providers outside the US (NIES).

Evaluation

NASBA's academic review through NIES is required for international education (Georgia Board of Accountancy FAQs); there is no one at the Board who evaluates education for the exam or license (Georgia Board of Accountancy licensure).

What the report must show

An equivalency summary, a credential analysis (country, degree, year, institution), a course-by-course listing, and total, accounting and business credits (CPA Examination Services: Georgia).

How it arrives

The original evaluation reaches CPA Examination Services directly from NIES, with a copy of the international transcript; photocopies are not accepted (CPA Examination Services: Georgia).

Not accepted

Chartered Accountant or similar professional training does not count toward the education requirement (CPA Examination Services: Georgia).

Status

To be licensed in Georgia you must be a US citizen, a permanent resident, or a qualified alien or non-immigrant (Georgia Board of Accountancy FAQs).

Georgia hands the evaluation to NASBA

The Board says no one on its staff evaluates education for the exam or for licensure and that it gives no academic advice (Georgia Board of Accountancy licensure).

NASBA's CPA Examination Services registers Georgia candidates (Georgia Board of Accountancy CPA examination), and the Board's FAQ points international candidates to NASBA's review through NIES (Georgia Board of Accountancy FAQs).

So NIES's translation rule decides who may translate: a verbatim English translation in the same format, typed, signed and dated, with the translator's contact details, from an ATA member, your university or the ministry (NIES).

The Board's licensure page cites Rule 20-3-.08 on accredited degrees and a concentration in accounting (Georgia Board of Accountancy licensure).

Avoid an incomplete file

CPAES treats an evaluation without the international transcript copy as incomplete and does not move it forward (CPA Examination Services: Georgia). NIES itself denies files that are not complete within 90 days of applying (NIES).

Ordering the translation first, before you apply to NIES, helps with both.

Need a certified translation for Georgia Board of Accountancy?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • University transcripts or mark sheets
  • Degree certificates and diplomas
  • Records of accounting and business courses, with syllabi if NIES asks
  • Certificates from professional accounting bodies, which NIES reviews case by case

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
  • Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.

Submitting the translation to Georgia Board of Accountancy

  • The translation goes to NIES with your evaluation application; the evaluation then goes to CPA Examination Services with a copy of the international transcript.

The Georgia instructions say both that the original must come directly from the evaluation service and, in the checklist, that you or the agency may submit it (CPA Examination Services: Georgia); asking NIES to send it avoids the question.

  • eVerbary can mail the translation to NIES in a sealed, signed envelope: choose the hard copy at checkout with NIES's address ($19.95 Priority or $37.95 Express in the US) and write in the order notes that it is for NIES and Georgia.

If you need a translator certified by ATA

Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:

$34.95 per page

Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian

$44.95 per page

Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian

To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Georgia Board of Accountancy, what it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).

We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.

For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.

For Georgia that means we translate your records for NIES; NIES prepares the review, and NASBA processes your application for the Board.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
