The divorce is written on the marriage record
A divorce is recorded as a marginal annotation against the marriage entry rather than as a separate certificate, so a copy of the partida de matrimonio issued before the divorce shows a marriage still in force — with nothing on it to suggest anything is missing. Order a current copy from the Registro de Estado Civil before paying anyone to translate the one in your drawer.
