Your record is where your family is from
Syrian civil registration is held at the civil registry of the family's place of origin, not the place of birth — so a person born and living in Damascus may have their record in a village in Idlib or Hasakah.
The passport prints the registry place, and a reader assuming it is the birthplace will query a correct document. We name the registry office and its governorate exactly as printed.

Syrians abroad renew passports at embassies, and Syria has issued books with different validity periods and at markedly different fees depending on where and how quickly they are obtained.

The ikhraj qayd is the family record
The passport shows limited data. The ikhraj qayd — the civil registry extract — lists the person with their family and the registered events, and an individual extract and a family extract show different things.
For a family relationship the family extract is the document, and applicants routinely send the individual one.
Arabic, four names, and legalisation
Syrian names commonly run given name, father, grandfather and family name, so a shortened form on one document is not a change of name. Eastern Arabic numerals are given in Western digits and Hijri dates converted individually.
