What registration exists, and what does not
Somalia has had no continuously functioning national vehicle registry since 1991. Registration and plates are issued by municipalities and regional administrations, and practice differs between them.
A document may be a municipal registration card, a customs clearance, a bill of sale before witnesses, or a plate allocation receipt. We name what it is and who issued it, and never dress one up as a title.
Somaliland and Puntland
The Somaliland and Puntland authorities run their own vehicle registration with their own plates, seals and offices.
