Biometric since 2013, issued by ANRPTS
Mauritanian passports are issued by ANRPTS. The biometric passport was introduced in 2013, and the older non-biometric passports stopped being valid even before their printed expiry. To get one, a citizen must first be enrolled in the population register and hold the biometric identity card, and applies in person at a citizens' centre or one of the few embassies that take applications.
