An Italian comune issues more than one kind of birth document and they do not carry the same information. The estratto per riassunto summarises the record. The copia integrale — the full copy — reproduces the entry and every annotation made to it since: a marriage, a divorce, a citizenship acquisition, a correction.

Multilingual extracts, and why they do not remove the translation
Italy can issue a multilingual extract under a 1976 convention on civil status records. It is designed for use between the countries that signed it, and the United States did not, so it does not replace a certified English translation for USCIS and it is not worth paying extra for on that basis. If you already hold one, we translate it like any other document.
Older records are handwritten and narrative, reciting who appeared before the registrar and what was declared. They are translated as the narrative they are rather than reorganised into a form the original never had.
What USCIS requires
Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Every seal, stamp and marginal note is part of the document, so every one is translated.

A standard translation is for business or personal use where certification is not needed, such as CVs, client intake forms or marketing material, and is billed at the same $24.95 per page of up to 250 words.
