The 2022 Family Code rewrote this
Cuba adopted a new Family Code by referendum in 2022, which reframed parentage in terms of responsabilidad parental and recognised filiation arising from assisted reproduction and from socio-affective bonds alongside biological and adoptive parentage.
So documents from before and after rest on different law and use different terminology. We reproduce the code and article the instrument cites rather than modernising it.
Reconocimiento at the registry
Acknowledgment is made before the Registro del Estado Civil, at the birth registration or later, and it is recorded against the birth entry.
A certificación literal — a full transcription including marginal annotations — shows it; a short extract does not. For a filiation matter order the literal, and people routinely order the short one.
Where the record sits, and access
Cuban civil registries are municipal and held under the Ministry of Justice, and obtaining records from Cuba after emigration is frequently difficult.

The carné, and legalisation
The carné de identidad number, eleven digits built from the date of birth plus a serial, encodes the birth date on its face and identifies each person on the record.
