The 2014 Family Code, and the vocabulary
Bolivia replaced its Family Code with the Código de las Familias y del Proceso Familiar in 2014, restating filiation and the routes to establish it.

Acknowledgment is made before SERECÍ, the civil registry service under the electoral authority, at the birth registration or later, by public instrument or in a will.

The cédula de identidad number frequently carries a departmental suffix — LP, CB, SC — which is part of the identifier and not an abbreviation to be dropped.
