How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026

Foreign Credential Evaluations, Inc. (FCE), an AICE member in Roswell, Georgia, requires official English translations with every document not issued in English, literal and word-for-word, from credible sources such as professional translation services, embassies, consulates or US university language departments.

FCE accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, and recommends a certified translation agency.

FCE does not translate documents, and its course-by-course evaluations need official documents in the language of issue as well, which we do not supply.

FCE requirements in detail

Translation

Official English translations are required, literal and word-for-word, for all educational documents issued in another language (FCE: apply (fceatlanta.net)).

Who may translate

Credible sources such as professional translation services, embassies, consular offices and language departments of US universities (FCE: apply (fceatlanta.net)); FCE recommends a certified translation agency and lists five it has worked with, without endorsing any (FCE: translation services).

Self-translation

Not addressed by FCE; its list of credible sources does not include the applicant.

Original or copy

The original transcript submitted by you, or an official transcript sent by the school, plus a copy or scan of every certificate and diploma (FCE: documents). Course-by-course evaluations need official documents in the language of issue (FCE: apply (fceatlanta.net)).

Own translation service

None: "FCE, Inc. does not translate documents" (FCE: apply (fceatlanta.net)).

How to submit

With the application, online or downloaded, for document-by-document or course-by-course reports (FCE: apply (fceatlanta.net)).

Notarization

Not mentioned by FCE.

What FCE means by a credible translation

FCE puts professional translation services first in its list of credible sources, next to embassies, consulates and university language departments (FCE: apply (fceatlanta.net)).

Its translation page adds the one format rule that matters: a literal, word-for-word translation, not an interpretation (FCE: translation services).

For a transcript, that means each course name, grade and credit as printed, and the grading scale the school uses; we never convert grades.

FCE warns that misleading translations are treated like questionable documents: it charges a consultation fee for the research and does not return them (FCE: documents).

Originals, copies and country checks

For transcripts, FCE wants either the original you hold or an official transcript sent straight from the school; diplomas can be sent as copies or scans (FCE: documents).

Originals you submit can be returned after the evaluation, while records sent by a school stay with FCE.

Applicants educated in certain countries, including China and West Africa, must also arrange verification from sources in those countries before FCE evaluates (FCE: apply (fceatlanta.net)).

FCE has been an endorsed member of the Association of International Credential Evaluators, and is listed as one today (AICE).

Need a certified translation for FCE?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

  • Secondary school completion documents
  • Professional or technical certificates

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
  • Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.

Submitting the translation to FCE

  • Send the translations with your FCE application and the documents in the original language; FCE does not accept a translation in place of the original-language record (FCE: apply (fceatlanta.net)).

  • We deliver a PDF with a signed certificate of translation accuracy; print it or send it with the application as FCE's instructions say.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we do not order the evaluation for you, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For FCE that means we translate your records; the official transcripts, any country verification and the evaluation are handled with FCE.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does FCE accept translations from a translation company?

Yes. FCE names professional translation services among the credible sources it accepts (FCE: apply (fceatlanta.net)).

Can FCE translate my documents?

No. FCE says it does not translate documents (FCE: apply (fceatlanta.net)).

Do I have to send the original transcript?

Either the original transcript you hold or an official one sent directly by the school; certificates and diplomas can be copies or scans (FCE: documents).

Does FCE recommend specific translators?

It lists five companies it has worked with and says it endorses none of them (FCE: translation services). Any professional translation service may translate.
