Widener at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Widener's international application page asks that all educational documents be accompanied by official English translations and does not restrict who translates (how to apply); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Widener requirements in detail
Translation
All educational documents accompanied by official English translations, carrying the seal or stamp of the issuing school (International admissions: how to apply).
Who may translate
Not stated (International admissions: how to apply).
Copies
Transcripts and marksheets may be attested or notarized copies; send current transcripts now and final ones after completion (International admissions: how to apply).
Instead of a translation
A course-by-course evaluation by a NACES member, accepted when a transcript is not in English (International admissions: how to apply).
Engineering
Transfers: a course-by-course evaluation with GPA from any NACES member. Graduate engineering: WES only (International admissions: how to apply).
Nursing
Graduate applicants seeking US licensure work with CGFNS, whose Qualifying Exam the School of Nursing requires (International admissions: how to apply).
Where to send
By email to admissionsintl@widener.edu or by mail to the Office of Admissions, One University Place, Chester, PA 19013; rolling review, decision in 2–4 weeks (International admissions: how to apply).
Two ways to present a record not in English
Widener gives international applicants a choice.
You can send your official transcripts and marksheets, as originals or as attested or notarized copies with the seal or stamp of the school, accompanied by official English translations; or you can send a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member, which Widener accepts when a transcript is not in English (how to apply).
The translation is usually the faster and cheaper route for a first-year applicant; the evaluation suits applicants who want transfer credit read in US terms.
Applicants still in school send current transcripts first and the final official ones after completion, so the translation of the final record is a second order.
Records go by email to admissionsintl@widener.edu or by mail, and Widener reviews international applications on a rolling basis, with a decision in two to four weeks (International admissions: how to apply).
Engineering and nursing
Engineering has its own rules. Transfer engineering applicants need a comprehensive course-by-course evaluation with a GPA from any NACES member, and course grades must be approved for transfer credit in the engineering curriculum.
Graduate engineering programs accept evaluations only from WES (International admissions: how to apply), which requires a word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation service, uploaded in your WES account (WES).
Graduate nursing applicants seeking licensure in the US work with the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) and need a passing score on its Qualifying Examination (International admissions: how to apply); CGFNS sets its own document rules.

Email your official transcripts with their translations to admissionsintl@widener.edu, or mail printed copies to Widener University, Office of Admissions, One University Place, Chester, PA 19013 (International admissions: how to apply).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Widener that means the NACES or WES course-by-course evaluation, where you choose or need one, is ordered from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Widener require a certified translation?
It asks for official English translations of all educational documents and does not say who must make them (International admissions: how to apply).
Can I send an evaluation instead of a translation?
Yes. Widener accepts a NACES course-by-course evaluation when a transcript is not in English (International admissions: how to apply).
Which evaluation does graduate engineering accept?
Only WES (International admissions: how to apply), and WES wants a professional translation (WES).
Are notarized copies of my marksheets accepted?
Yes. Transcripts and marksheets may be attested or notarized copies, with the seal or stamp of the issuing school (International admissions: how to apply).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
