West Chester University (WCU) asks international first-year applicants to have official translations sent to the Office of Admissions with transcripts and exam results that are not in English; it does not say who must translate.

West Chester University of Pennsylvania accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

Transfer and graduate applicants with studies abroad need a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member instead, which we do not provide.

WCU at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

WCU's first-year steps ask for "official translations" of transcripts and exam results not in English, without restricting who translates (international admission steps); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Graduate: agency sends it

Course-by-course, straight to the Graduate School.

WCU requirements in detail

Translation (first-year)

Official (translated) transcripts and exam results; official translations go to the Office of Admissions if the records are not in English (International admission).

Who may translate

Not stated.

Transfer

A course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member, such as ECE, WES or Josef Silny; you pay for the translation services (International admission, transfer).

High school, for transfers

Not evaluated if you have at least 24 credits from a US college or university (International admission).

Graduate

A course-by-course evaluation of all colleges attended from any NACES-participating organization, delivered directly by it (graduate catalog).

Graduate deadlines

June 15 for fall and November 15 for spring (Graduate catalog: international admissions).

First-year and transfer applicants follow different rules

For first-year applicants, WCU asks for official transcripts and exam results; if they are in English your school sends them directly, and if not, official translations are also sent to the Office of Admissions (International admission). There is no evaluation step on the first-year list.

Transfer applicants cannot rely on translations alone.

WCU's FAQ answers the question directly: undergraduate admissions is not in a position to evaluate post-secondary study abroad, so transfer students with non-US credentials provide a course-by-course evaluation by a NACES member (FAQ).

The transfer page names ECE, Josef Silny and WES, and says the student contacts the agency, pays for the translation services and provides the documentation; applications are not considered without it (Transfer admissions).

With 24 or more credits from a US institution, only your post-secondary study abroad needs the evaluation (International admission).

Graduate School: the agency is the sender

The graduate catalog asks international applicants for an official course-by-course evaluation of all colleges and universities attended from any NACES-participating organization, and the transcript must reach WCU directly from that organization; English test scores also come from the testing agency (Graduate catalog: international admissions).

Applications and documents are due June 15 for fall and November 15 for spring.

The agency sets the translation rule. WES, for example, wants a professional translator (WES); Josef Silny accepts outside translators in the US only if ATA-certified (JS&A), which eVerbary can provide on request through a free quote. See translation for credential evaluation.

Need a certified translation for WCU?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school transcripts and national exam results, for first-year applicants
  • Secondary school diploma or certificate
  • University transcripts and degree certificates, for the NACES evaluation
  • Bank statements for the I-20, if not in English

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to WCU

  • First-year applicants have the official translations sent to the Office of Admissions with their records (International admission).

  • Transfer and graduate applicants send the translation to the evaluation agency with their records, and the agency sends WCU the course-by-course report (transfer, graduate).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For WCU that means we translate your records; the NACES course-by-course evaluation required of transfer and graduate applicants comes from an evaluation agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does West Chester need an evaluation of my high school records?

Not for first-year applicants, who send official translations instead (International admission).

Who can translate my transcripts for WCU?

WCU does not say (International admission). A certified translation from a professional service qualifies.

I am transferring with credits from abroad. What do I need?

A course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member such as ECE, WES or Josef Silny (Transfer admissions).

Can I send my English-translated transcripts instead of an evaluation as a transfer student?

No. WCU asks transfer students with non-US credentials for a NACES course-by-course evaluation (FAQ).

When are graduate documents due?

June 15 for fall and November 15 for spring (Graduate catalog: international admissions).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
