How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

Washtenaw Community College requires that F-1 transcripts not in English come with official translations by an official translation agency, and it refuses translations made or emailed by the student.

Washtenaw Community College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, and we can send the translation to WCC by email on request, which is how WCC wants to receive it.

Credit for study abroad needs a NACES course-specific evaluation sent by the agency, which we do not provide.

Worth knowing about WCC

Agency only

No translations made or emailed by the student.

Original attached

The agency states it translated and attached it.

Notary seal too

A seal not in English needs an official translation.

WCC requirements in detail

Translation

Transcripts not in English need official translations by an official translation agency (2026-2027 F-1 student visa packet (PDF)).

Who may translate

An official translation agency; translations completed by the student are not accepted (2026-2027 F-1 student visa packet (PDF)).

How it must arrive

Emailed by the agency from an official address, with the original document attached and a statement that it translated and attached it; or the original translation by post or in a sealed envelope with the original transcript (2026-2027 F-1 student visa packet (PDF)).

Transcripts

Complete secondary records with every term's courses and grades; transfers and graduates also send all college transcripts; they come from the issuing school, not from you (2026-2027 F-1 student visa packet (PDF)).

Other translations

The notary seal on the Notarized Financial Support Form, and dependents' birth and marriage certificates, in English or with an official translation (2026-2027 F-1 student visa packet (PDF)).

Deadlines (F-1)

Fall 2026: July 15, 2026; Winter 2027: November 15, 2026; no summer start for F-1 students (2026-2027 F-1 student visa packet (PDF)).

Transfer credit

A NACES course-specific evaluation, received directly from the NACES member (Transfer credits to WCC).

The translation must come from the agency, with the original

WCC is precise about who handles the translation.

If your transcripts are not in English, the packet requires official translations by an official translation agency and says translations completed by the student will not be accepted (F-1 student visa packet).

Delivery has the same rule: an emailed translation must come directly from the agency, from an official email address, and one emailed by the student is refused.

The original transcript must travel with the translation, and the agency must state that it translated the document and attached the original (2026-2027 F-1 student visa packet (PDF)).

For WCC, ask in your eVerbary order for the translation to be emailed to intl@wccnet.edu, the address WCC gives for third parties, and write in the notes that WCC wants the email to say the original is attached.

The official transcript itself still has to come from your school, by email from its official address or by post; students may upload only the passport, the signature form and test scores.

Seals, certificates and the rest of the file

The translation rule reaches beyond transcripts.

The financial sponsor signs the Notarized Financial Support Form before a notary or attorney, and if the notary's stamp or seal is not in English, an official translation is required; dependents' birth and marriage certificates must be in English or officially translated (2026-2027 F-1 student visa packet (PDF)).

Bank statements from non-US banks are accepted as originals that state the currency; online printouts, photocopies and faxes are not.

Credit is a separate step.

To turn coursework from abroad into WCC credit, ask a NACES member for a course-specific evaluation; WCC treats the transcript as official only when the report comes directly from the agency, and then transfers the credits your program requires (transfer credits).

Agencies set their own translation rules; see translation for credential evaluation.

Need a certified translation for WCC?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school transcripts, every term, and the completion certificate
  • College or university transcripts and degree certificates
  • Notary seal or stamp on the Notarized Financial Support Form
  • Birth and marriage certificates for F-2 dependents

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to WCC

  • WCC does not take translations from you: the agency emails them to the Office of Admissions/International (intl@wccnet.edu) or they arrive by post or in a sealed envelope with the original transcript (2026-2027 F-1 student visa packet (PDF)). On request, eVerbary emails the translation directly.

  • Mailed documents go to Washtenaw Community College, Attn: Office of Admissions/International, 4800 East Huron River Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48105. Everything submitted becomes WCC property, so keep copies (2026-2027 F-1 student visa packet (PDF), F1 visa students).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For WCC that means we translate your transcripts, the notary seal and your certificates, and email the translation to WCC on request; the NACES course-specific evaluation for credit comes from an evaluation agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I email my translated transcript to WCC myself?

No. WCC accepts emailed translations only directly from the translation agency (2026-2027 F-1 student visa packet (PDF)). eVerbary can email it to the office on request.

Can I translate my own transcript for WCC?

No. Translations completed by the student are not accepted (2026-2027 F-1 student visa packet (PDF)).

Does the original transcript go with the translation?

Yes. The original must be included, and the agency must state that it translated and attached it (2026-2027 F-1 student visa packet (PDF)).

Does the notary seal on my financial form need a translation?

Yes, if it is not in English: an official translation (2026-2027 F-1 student visa packet (PDF)).

How do I get credit for courses I took abroad?

Request a course-specific evaluation from a NACES member, sent directly by the agency to WCC (Transfer credits to WCC).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
