How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
The University of Wisconsin–Stout, now UW-Stout Polytechnic, asks international undergraduate and ESL applicants to send their academic records with an English translation, and course descriptions for every post-secondary course; it does not say who must translate.
University of Wisconsin–Stout accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Graduate applicants need official or attested records translated into English with the originals and a credential evaluation, either from a NACES member or done by UW-Stout itself, for which documents must come directly from your school.

Undergraduates: records, a translation and course descriptions
UW-Stout Polytechnic shares the Universities of Wisconsin application, then asks international and ESL conditional applicants to send academic records from every secondary and post-secondary school with an English translation, and to include course descriptions for all courses completed at post-secondary institutions; records from US schools go through Parchment (undergraduate international).
Course descriptions can run to many pages, so if they are not in English, plan their translation with the transcripts.
The upload link arrives by email after you apply, and documents can also be mailed to the Admissions Office in Sorensen Hall.
A $50 processing fee is due before an admission decision, and applicants already in F-1 status are considered after the deadline case by case (How to apply: undergraduate international and ESL students).
Graduate applicants: a NACES report or UW-Stout's own evaluation
Graduate applicants provide official or attested records from every higher education institution, translated into English, together with the original documents, and a credential evaluation is required (graduate international).
If you already have an evaluation from a NACES member, the evaluator sends it directly and official transcripts are not needed.
Otherwise UW-Stout evaluates internally; the records and degree certificate must then be sent directly by the institution, with English translations for those not in English, and UW-Stout cannot accept transcripts from students, agents or other intermediaries. The internal evaluation is not given to you.
On the NACES path you send the translation to the agency with your documents; on the internal path everything, translations included, comes from the school.
Graduate ESL applicants instead send their academic records translated into English, with course descriptions, to the undergraduate Admissions Office.

Uploading the translation to UW-Stout
Undergraduate and ESL applicants upload their records and translations through the link UW-Stout emails after the application, or mail them to the Admissions Office, 212 Sorensen Hall, 121 10th Ave. E., Menomonie (How to apply: undergraduate international and ESL students).
Graduate applicants finalize the application on UW-Stout's Collection Site; an existing NACES evaluation is sent by the evaluator to Graduate Admissions, 105 Bowman Hall (How to apply: graduate international students).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For UW-Stout that means we translate your records and course descriptions; the graduate credential evaluation comes from a NACES member or from UW-Stout itself.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my transcripts for UW-Stout?
The undergraduate steps ask for an English translation and do not say who must make it (How to apply: undergraduate international and ESL students). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Do I need to translate course descriptions?
UW-Stout asks undergraduates to include course descriptions for all post-secondary courses (How to apply: undergraduate international and ESL students); if they are not in English, a translation lets admissions read them.
Do graduate applicants need a credential evaluation?
Yes, from a NACES member or done internally by UW-Stout (How to apply: graduate international students).
Can I send my own transcripts for the internal evaluation?
No. For the internal evaluation, documents must come directly from the institution, not from students, agents or other intermediaries (How to apply: graduate international students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
