How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
University of the Cumberlands has every transcript from outside the US evaluated by one of its listed services, World Education Services, IERF, Educational Perspectives, ECE or The Evaluation Company, and tells undergraduates to prepare the evaluation and the translation; it does not say who translates.
Cumberlands' evaluation agencies, such as WES, IERF, Educational Perspectives and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the evaluation is something we do not provide.

Cumberlands requirements in detail
Translation
The undergraduate steps ask you to prepare the transcript evaluation and translation; Cumberlands does not say who translates (International students).
Who may translate
Set by the agency: WES, IERF, EP and ECE accept a professional service; The Evaluation Company wants an ATA-certified translator.
Evaluation
All transcripts from outside the US, by WES, IERF, Educational Perspectives, ECE or The Evaluation Company (SpanTran); student-athletes are encouraged to use InCRED (International students).
Report type
General evaluations cost about $75–$150; course-by-course, required for transfers from foreign colleges, about $150–$250 (International students).
Unofficial records
An evaluation based on unofficial transcripts or in-progress work is accepted for admission; official transcripts with completed courses are required before enrollment (International students).
Graduate
Evaluations must include a cumulative GPA and US equivalency; AACRAO is also approved; waived after a US bachelor's or nine hours of US master's courses (admission requirements).
What each listed agency asks for the translation
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept applicants' own.
IERF asks for typed, line-by-line, word-for-word translations of every record not issued in English and may require a professional one.
Educational Perspectives accepts translations from a reputable translation agency or a certified professional translator, and sells its own.
ECE accepts complete, word-for-word translations including your own and sells an $85 waiver. The Evaluation Company takes outside translations only from ATA-certified translators; eVerbary can assign one on request.
Admission first on unofficial copies
Cumberlands lets the admission decision rest on an evaluation of unofficial transcripts or of coursework still in progress, but requires official transcripts with completed courses before you enroll (International students).
If you translate your records now for an early evaluation, translate the final transcript and diploma again when they are issued, so the agency can update the report.
Transfers from foreign colleges need the course-by-course report, which costs more than a general one.
Graduate applicants follow a separate list that adds AACRAO and needs the evaluation to show a cumulative GPA and US equivalency; doctoral applicants provide a certified evaluation showing US master's equivalency (Admission requirements).
Need a certified translation for Cumberlands?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts and diploma
- College or university transcripts, for a course-by-course evaluation
- Degree certificates, for graduate applicants
- Bank statement for the I-20 request, if not in English
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Cumberlands
The translation goes to the agency with your records; the evaluation firm sends the report to Cumberlands. Other documents go to admissions@ucumberlands.edu, and after admission the I-20 request, with a bank statement, goes through UC Global (International students).
On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Cumberlands, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Cumberlands that means we translate your records for the agency; the evaluation is ordered by you from WES, IERF, EP, ECE or The Evaluation Company.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Cumberlands require a translation of my transcripts?
It asks you to prepare the transcript evaluation and translation (International students); the agency you choose sets the translation rule. WES wants a professional translator (WES).
Can I be admitted on unofficial transcripts?
Yes, if the evaluation is based on them; official transcripts with completed courses are required before enrollment (International students).
Do I need a course-by-course evaluation?
Only if you are transferring from a foreign college or university; otherwise a general evaluation is enough (International students).
Which agencies can graduate applicants use?
WES, AACRAO, ECE, IERF, EvalDirect, Educational Perspectives, TEC or InCred; the report must show GPA and US equivalency (Admission requirements).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for Cumberlands?
Yes, on request, for example if you use The Evaluation Company. Ask for a free quote and note that the translation is for an evaluation for University of the Cumberlands and needs a translator individually certified by ATA. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English; no other languages.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
