How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
The University of Hartford requires every transcript in a language other than English to include a translation, and asks transfer applicants for course descriptions with English translations; it does not say who must translate.
University of Hartford accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Graduate applicants need a NACES course-by-course evaluation, such as from WES, IEE or TEC, even for transcripts in English; that evaluation is something we do not provide.
UHart at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
UHart's international application process says all transcripts in a language other than English "must include a translation" (first-year process) and does not restrict who translates; a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets that rule. UHart requirements in detail
Translation
All transcripts in a language other than English must include a translation (International first-year application process).
Who may translate
Not stated.
Official records
Review starts from a scanned copy; admission is final once the official record from each school arrives in a separate sealed envelope, or electronically, at intlinfo@hartford.edu (International first-year application process).
Transfer credit
Course descriptions or syllabi for each subject, with English translations and grade conversions, emailed to intlinfo@hartford.edu; UHart does not search web pages for descriptions (transfer).
The Hartt School
International transfer applicants submit transcripts through a NACES-accredited evaluation agency (Hartt transfer).
Graduate
All foreign transcripts evaluated course-by-course by a NACES member such as WES, IEE or TEC, even if in English; engineering master's programs may accept official transcripts from the institution (graduate requirements).
Start with scans, finish with sealed records
UHart begins its admission review on an electronic, scanned copy of your academic records, so a translated scan can be in your file early.
The decision becomes final only when the official transcript or record from each secondary school arrives, mailed in a separate sealed envelope or sent electronically to intlinfo@hartford.edu, and every transcript in another language must include a translation (first-year process).
Send the certified translation with the scan you submit for review, and keep it ready to accompany the official record. Applicants who studied beyond secondary school must declare and document that study as well; UHart says omitting it leads to denial.
Transfer credit: descriptions in English
To have subjects from a previous university considered, you send descriptions or syllabi of each one, collected from that university and emailed to UHart.
They should state the objectives, the content, the length of the term in weeks, and include English translations and grade conversions; UHart does not look descriptions up online (transfer process).
Credit is accepted from universities recognized by their country's Ministry of Education, with a C- or better. We translate descriptions and grades exactly as written; a grade conversion is not part of a translation.
Transfers to The Hartt School follow a stricter rule: international transcripts go through a NACES-accredited evaluation agency (Hartt).
Graduate applicants: a NACES evaluation for every foreign transcript
For master's and doctoral programs, every foreign transcript must be evaluated by a NACES member such as WES, IEE or TEC, and a course-by-course evaluation is required even when the transcript is in English, because grading systems differ (graduate requirements).
The Master of Engineering and Master of Science in Engineering programs accept official transcripts received directly from the institution but may still ask for an evaluation.
The agencies set their own translation rules; see translation for credential evaluation.

Uploading the translation to UHart
Undergraduate records and their translations go to the International Admission Office by email to intlinfo@hartford.edu or by mail; course descriptions are emailed to the same address (International first-year application process, International transfer application process).
Graduate applicants send their records and translations to the NACES agency, which sends the evaluation to UHart (International graduate requirements).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For UHart that means we translate your transcripts and course descriptions; grade conversions and the NACES evaluation for graduate or Hartt applicants come from an evaluation agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does UHart accept a translation from a translation company?
UHart says transcripts in another language must include a translation and does not restrict who makes it (International first-year application process); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Can I apply with scanned records?
Yes. Review starts on a scanned copy; admission is final once official records arrive (International first-year application process).
What does UHart need for transfer credit?
Course descriptions or syllabi with English translations and grade conversions, emailed to intlinfo@hartford.edu (International transfer application process).
Do graduate applicants with English transcripts still need an evaluation?
Yes, a NACES course-by-course evaluation, except that engineering master's programs may accept official transcripts directly (International graduate requirements).
Which agencies does UHart name for graduate evaluations?
WES, IEE and TEC, or any NACES member (International graduate requirements).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
