How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Central Connecticut State University asks international first-year and transfer applicants to provide both original and translated copies of any documentation not in English, and does not say who must translate.
Central Connecticut State University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Applicants should also seek a credential evaluation from a NACES member (CCSU recommends SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company), and that evaluation is something we do not provide.
CCSU at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
CCSU's first-year and transfer pages say that if documentation is not in English, applicants provide both original and translated copies, without restricting who translates (first-year students); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. CCSU requirements in detail
Translation
Both original and translated copies of documentation not in English (International first-year students).
Who may translate
Not stated (International first-year students).
Official records
Secondary records mailed or emailed directly by the school or national education ministry, in a sealed envelope (International first-year students).
Evaluation
Applicants should seek an evaluation from a NACES member; SpanTran is recommended, with a custom CCSU application at a discounted rate (International first-year students).
Transfer
Copies of course-by-course evaluations from a NACES member for college credit abroad, plus course descriptions, original and translated (transfer students).
Graduate
An original course-by-course evaluation report from a NACES member or AACRAO, verifying the US equivalent of a bachelor's degree (graduate students).
Original, translation and evaluation
CCSU asks for official copies of secondary school records: transcripts, national exam results, graduation certificates or other documents that certify completion.
To be official, they must be mailed or emailed directly by the secondary school or national education ministry in a sealed envelope, and if they are not in English, applicants provide both original and translated copies (first-year students).
Students should also seek a foreign credential evaluation from a NACES member.
CCSU recommends SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, which accepts outside translations only from translators certified by the American Translators Association; eVerbary can assign one on request through a free quote.
If you choose another NACES member, such as WES, a professional translation is accepted.
Transfer students: course descriptions in two versions
International transfer students with credits from outside the US provide copies of course-by-course evaluations from a NACES member, and CCSU asks them to start early because some institutions take several weeks (transfer students).
All transfer students also compile course descriptions for every college course; for courses taken where English is not the native language, both original and translated documents are required, and syllabi help speed up the review.
Course descriptions are often longer than the transcript, so ask for a quote that covers both.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to CCSU
Submit the translated copies with the originals as part of your application; official school records come directly from the school or ministry (International first-year students).
eVerbary delivers a signed PDF; we can also email the translation directly to the admissions office on request.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For CCSU that means we translate your records and course descriptions; the NACES evaluation is ordered by you from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does CCSU require a translation of my records?
Yes: both original and translated copies of documentation not in English (International first-year students).
Do I need a credential evaluation?
CCSU asks applicants to seek one from a NACES member and recommends SpanTran (International first-year students).
Do my course descriptions need a translation?
Yes, for transfer students, if the courses were taken where English is not the native language (International transfer students).
What do graduate applicants submit?
An original course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member or AACRAO verifying a US bachelor's equivalent (International graduate students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
