How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
TCNJ asks international first-year, transfer and graduate applicants for transcripts translated into English and, in most cases, evaluated by a NACES member agency; it does not say who must translate.
The College of New Jersey accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
The NACES evaluation (document-by-document for secondary school, course-by-course for college work) is ordered from the agency, and that part we do not provide.
TCNJ at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
TCNJ's international guidelines say transcripts must be translated in English, without restricting who translates (first-year guidelines); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 26, 2026.

TCNJ requirements in detail
Translation
Transcripts must be translated in English (first-year, transfer); graduate applicants translate all educational documents into English (graduate).
Who may translate
Not stated.
Evaluation (first-year)
In most cases, from a US agency; TCNJ accepts any NACES member; IB students are exempt (Guidelines for international first-year applicants).
Evaluation (transfer)
A document-by-document or general report for secondary school, plus a course-by-course report converted to US credits and grades for college work (Guidelines for international transfer applicants).
Evaluation (graduate)
Course-by-course, by an accredited agency (Graduate admissions: transcripts).
How documents arrive
Officials only through the Common App by a school official or by mail; unofficial copies may be emailed to international@tcnj.edu (Guidelines for international first-year applicants).
Accreditation
Foreign institutions must hold the equivalent of US regional accreditation (Guidelines for international transfer applicants).
First-year: translation plus a NACES evaluation, unless you are in IB
TCNJ asks for grades 9–12 transcripts through the Common Application, and they must be translated in English.
In most cases the transcripts also go to a US agency for a foreign credential evaluation, and TCNJ accepts evaluations from any NACES member.
Students in an International Baccalaureate program, in the US or abroad, do not have to send their transcript to an evaluation agency (first-year guidelines).
TCNJ does not accept official transcripts by email.
A school official sends them through the Common App, or they are mailed to International Admissions in Trenton Hall; you may email unofficial copies to international@tcnj.edu to speed up the review, but you cannot enroll until all official documents arrive (Guidelines for international first-year applicants).
Translate first, then send the translation with the transcript to the agency you choose; WES, one NACES member, accepts a professional translation (WES).
Transfer applicants: two kinds of report
International transfer applicants also translate their secondary and college transcripts into English.
Most need a document-by-document or general report for the secondary record, and a course-by-course evaluation converted to US credits and grades for any college or university transcript (transfer guidelines).
Foreign institutions must have the equivalent of US regional accreditation, official transcripts must be mailed by a university official, and credit evaluations are done only after you are admitted.
Graduate applicants
TCNJ's graduate office asks every student who attended a non-US institution to have all educational documents translated into English and evaluated course by course by an accredited agency, linking the NACES list (graduate transcripts).
Official transcripts must arrive in their original sealed envelope, and transcripts stamped "Issued to Student" are not accepted.

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to TCNJ
Send the translation with your transcripts to the NACES agency, which evaluates them; the official transcripts reach TCNJ through a school official on the Common App or by mail to International Admissions (Guidelines for international first-year applicants).
For a quicker review you can email unofficial copies, translations included, to international@tcnj.edu (Guidelines for international first-year applicants).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For TCNJ that means we translate your transcripts and diplomas; the NACES evaluation is ordered by you from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does TCNJ require my transcripts to be translated?
Yes. Transcripts must be translated in English (Guidelines for international first-year applicants).
Who can translate for TCNJ?
TCNJ does not say (Guidelines for international first-year applicants); a certified translation from a professional service meets the rule.
Do I need a credential evaluation as a first-year applicant?
In most cases yes, from any NACES member; IB students are exempt (Guidelines for international first-year applicants).
Which report does a transfer applicant need?
A document-by-document or general report for secondary school and a course-by-course report for college work (Guidelines for international transfer applicants).
Can I email my official transcripts?
No. Officials come through the Common App or by mail; unofficial copies can be emailed (Guidelines for international first-year applicants).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
