How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

Stetson University asks international first-year applicants for their secondary school transcripts, English translations and a professional equivalency evaluation of those transcripts, and it does not say who must translate.

Stetson University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

Graduate applicants need an official translation and a course-by-course evaluation with GPA, and Stetson names The Evaluation Company, which accepts outside translations only from ATA-certified translators; eVerbary can assign one on request. The evaluation is something we do not provide.

Stetson at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Stetson's undergraduate catalog asks international applicants for secondary school transcripts and English translations, without restricting who makes them (undergraduate admissions catalog); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Undergraduate: translation and evaluation together

Stetson's international application lists three items in one line: secondary school transcripts, English translations, and a professional equivalency evaluation of these transcripts (undergraduate catalog).

The catalog names no agency for first-year applicants, so pick one whose translation rule matches the translation you order: WES, for example, accepts a word-for-word translation from a professional translation service.

For credit from a university abroad, Stetson asks for a certified equivalency evaluation and decides the transfer credit once everything arrives.

Graduate programs: TEC and an ATA-certified translator

For graduate study, Stetson ties the translation to the grading system: international transcripts must be translated if their grading differs from the US system, and the official translation and a course-by-course evaluation with GPA computation go to the Office of Graduate Admissions (graduate catalog).

The catalog gives a Stetson-specific application at The Evaluation Company, which accepts outside translations only from translators certified by the American Translators Association; otherwise its own team translates. eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request (see below).

Need a certified translation for Stetson?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school transcripts and leaving certificate
  • University transcripts and degree certificates
  • Bank statement for proof of funding, if not in English
  • Grading scale printed with the transcripts

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Stetson

  • Undergraduate applicants send the transcripts, translations and evaluation to the Office of Admission (admissions@stetson.edu; the Common App is accepted); graduate applicants send the official translation and evaluation to the Office of Graduate Admissions (Undergraduate admissions catalog, Graduate program admissions catalog (PDF)).

  • On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.

If you need a translator certified by ATA

Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:

$34.95 per page

Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian

$44.95 per page

Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian

To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Stetson, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).

We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.

For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Stetson that means we translate your transcripts; the professional equivalency evaluation, or TEC's course-by-course report for graduate study, is ordered by you from the agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Stetson require translations of my secondary school transcripts?

Yes. International applicants provide secondary school transcripts, English translations and a professional equivalency evaluation (Undergraduate admissions catalog).

Which evaluation agency does Stetson want?

The undergraduate catalog names none; the graduate catalog lists The Evaluation Company, with a Stetson-specific application (Graduate program admissions catalog (PDF)).

Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for Stetson?

Yes, on request, for example if you use TEC for a graduate application. Ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Stetson University and needs a translator individually certified by ATA. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English; no other languages.

Do graduate applicants always need a translation?

Stetson says international transcripts must be translated if their grading and evaluation system differs from the US system (Graduate program admissions catalog (PDF)).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
