How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

Solano Community College admits F-1 students with an application and a financial statement; a transcript in English sealed by the school is recommended but not required, and Solano states no translation rule of its own.

Credit for college work outside the US needs a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member, in English.

Solano's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and IERF, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; you translate first, the agency evaluates, and the evaluation is something we do not provide.

Solano at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Worth knowing about Solano

No application fee

F-1 admission: application, financial statement, age 18.

NACES on the date

The agency must be a NACES member when it evaluates.

Course descriptions

In English, to use a course for a specific requirement.

Solano requirements in detail

Translation

No rule of its own for admission; the evaluation Solano requires for credit must be in English (International transcript evaluation). The translation is what the agency needs first.

Who may translate

Set by the evaluation agency. WES, ECE and IERF accept a professional translation.

Admission records

A transcript from your last school, in English and sealed by the school, is recommended but not required; applicants must be high school graduates and 18 or older (International students).

Evaluation for credit

Course-by-course from a NACES member, with course titles, semester units, letter grades and lower or upper division level (International transcript evaluation).

Course descriptions

In English, with a course substitution petition, to meet Solano GE, non-ADT major or certificate requirements; not needed for prerequisites (International transcript evaluation).

Limits

Not for IGETC (except the language other than English area), CSU-GE or Associate Degree for Transfer requirements (International transcript evaluation).

How to apply

By fax, by email to admissions@solano.edu or by mail; no application fee (International students).

What each evaluation agency asks for the translation

Solano accepts any NACES member, and says the member must hold NACES approval on or after the date of the evaluation (International transcript evaluation).

Among NACES members, WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept translations by applicants; ECE wants complete, word-for-word translations, lets applicants prepare their own and sells an $85 Translation Waiver under which it translates internally for the report; IERF asks for typed, line-by-line translations in the same format as the original.

Translate every page of the transcript, including the grading legend, before you open the agency file, so the evaluation can list each course with its units, grade and level as Solano asks.

Credit at Solano: case by case

Solano reviews international evaluations case by case, at the student's expense, and does not guarantee that any coursework will transfer; a course must be judged equivalent to work at a regionally accredited US college (International transcript evaluation).

To apply a foreign course to a specific Solano GE, non-ADT major or certificate requirement, you also file a course substitution petition with course descriptions in English, which a certified translation of the syllabus or catalog entry provides.

Foreign coursework cannot meet IGETC (except the language other than English requirement), CSU-GE or ADT requirements, and four-year schools apply their own rules, so check with your advisor before ordering an evaluation (International transcript evaluation).

Documents applicants usually translate

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Solano

  • F-1 applicants send the international application packet by fax, email (admissions@solano.edu) or mail to the Solano International Education Program (International students).

  • For credit, the translation goes to the NACES agency with your transcript; the course-by-course evaluation and any course descriptions in English go to Admissions + Records with your petition (International transcript evaluation).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Solano that means we translate your transcripts and course descriptions; the NACES course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from the agency after the translation.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a translated transcript to be admitted to Solano?

No. A transcript in English, sealed by the school, is recommended but not required for F-1 admission (International students).

Which evaluation agency does Solano accept?

Any NACES member that is approved on or after the date of the evaluation (International transcript evaluation).

Can I use an eVerbary translation for the evaluation?

Yes, with agencies that accept professional translations: WES does (WES), as do ECE and IERF.

Do I need course descriptions in English?

Only to use a foreign course for a specific Solano GE, non-ADT major or certificate requirement, with a course substitution petition; not for prerequisites (International transcript evaluation).

Can foreign courses count for IGETC or an ADT?

No, except the IGETC language other than English requirement (International transcript evaluation).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
