How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

Roger Williams University requires first-year and transfer transcripts to be in English or sent with a certified translation, and asks that every document in another language come with a notarized English translation, submitted together with the original; it does not say who must translate.

Roger Williams University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, and notarization can be added at checkout for $34.90 per order. RWU does not require a credential evaluation.

RWU at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

RWU's international admission requirements say transcripts must be in English or sent "along with a certified translation", and that documents in another language need a notarized English translation (international requirements), without restricting who translates; a notarized certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets both. RWU requirements in detail

Translation

Transcripts in English or with a certified translation; all documents in another language with a notarized English translation (International admissions requirements).

Who may translate

Not stated.

Original and translation

Both the document in its original language and the English translation are required (International admissions requirements).

Evaluation

Not required; it can be sent as supporting material (International admissions requirements).

What to send (first-year)

At least three years of high school transcripts plus proof of graduation; national test results alone are not enough (International admissions requirements).

Transfer

Official high school and college transcripts, each in English or with a certified translation, plus the Transfer College Report (International admissions requirements).

Financial documents

Current, written in English, and signed and stamped by a bank official (International admissions requirements).

Deadlines

Priority for scholarships February 1 for fall and November 1 for spring; transfers April 1 and November 1 (International admissions requirements, transfer).

Certified or notarized: the page asks for both

RWU's requirements page words the rule two ways.

The first-year and transfer checklists say transcripts must be in English or sent with a certified translation, while the "Submitting Your Application" section says every document written in a language other than English must be accompanied by a notarized English translation, and that both the original and the translation are required (international requirements).

A certified translation with notarization added covers both readings; eVerbary adds notarization for $34.90 per order.

Teachers and counselors can send credentials electronically through document systems, by email to admit@rwu.edu, or by mail, so the translation can travel with the original from your school or be sent by you to the same office (International admissions requirements).

Three years of records, and no evaluation

RWU wants at least three years of high school transcripts and proof of graduation for students who have finished; national exam results alone are not sufficient (International admissions requirements).

Students in their last year send an unofficial transcript with the application, state the certificate they expect, and send original or certified copies when they are issued (international students). A translation of the final certificate is needed once it arrives.

International transcript evaluations are not required and can be added only as supporting material (International admissions requirements), so for most applicants the translation is the only outside document.

Bank documents must be written in English, signed and stamped by a bank official, and dated within 12 months of the start date.

Need a certified translation for RWU?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • High school transcripts for at least the last three years
  • Secondary school diploma or proof of graduation
  • Terminating or qualifying examination results
  • College or university transcripts, for transfer applicants
  • Bank letter or statements, if not in English

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to RWU

  • Apply through the Common Application, the Transfer Common Application or the RWU Transfer Rapid App. Credentials and their translations go to the Office of Admission electronically, by email to admit@rwu.edu, or by mail (International admissions requirements).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For RWU that means we translate and, on request, notarize your records and bank documents; the original records themselves come from your schools.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does RWU want a certified or a notarized translation?

Its page asks for a certified translation of transcripts and a notarized English translation of documents in another language (International admissions requirements). A notarized certified translation covers both; notarization costs $34.90 per order.

Do I send the original too?

Yes. RWU requires both the original and the English translation (International admissions requirements).

Do I need a WES or ECE evaluation for RWU?

No. Evaluations are not required, though they can be sent as supporting material (International admissions requirements).

Are national exam results enough?

No. RWU needs at least three years of high school transcripts (International admissions requirements).

Do bank statements need translating?

They must be written in English and signed and stamped by a bank official (International admissions requirements).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
