How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Pennsylvania Western University (PennWest) asks international first-year and transfer applicants for a page-by-page translation of official transcripts that are not in English, except Spanish-language transcripts, which may be submitted as they are; it does not say who must translate.
Pennsylvania Western University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
PennWest evaluates foreign transcripts with AACRAO EDGE and/or a NACES evaluation, and graduate applicants may send a WES or NACES course-by-course evaluation; those evaluations are something we do not provide.
PennWest at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
PennWest's undergraduate catalog requires "a page-by-page translation" of non-English official transcripts without restricting who translates (catalog); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 26, 2026.

PennWest requirements in detail
Translation
A page-by-page translation of official transcripts not in English, for first-year and transfer international applicants (Fall 2022 catalog).
Spanish
Spanish-language transcripts may be submitted as an English transcript would be (PennWest undergraduate catalog, Fall 2022 (PDF)).
Who may translate
Not stated.
Evaluation
International transcripts, GPAs, grading scales and national exams are evaluated with AACRAO EDGE and/or a NACES-certified evaluation; one received after the decision does not change it (admissions policy).
Graduate
Transcripts in English sent by the institution, or a course-by-course evaluation with GPA from WES (preferred) or a NACES member (graduate page).
Deadlines
June 1 for fall and November 1 for spring; $35 fee (undergraduate page).
Translate every page, unless it is in Spanish
PennWest's Fall 2022 undergraduate catalog lists the documents for international first-year and transfer applicants and adds that a page-by-page translation of official transcripts must be completed for non-English transcripts, barring Spanish-language transcripts, which may be submitted as an English-language transcript would be (PennWest undergraduate catalog, Fall 2022 (PDF)).
Its current undergraduate web page lists the transcript, exam results and diploma but does not repeat the translation sentence (International admissions: undergraduate); if your records are in a language other than English or Spanish, plan on translating each page.
The admissions policy says PennWest evaluates international transcripts, GPAs, grading scales and national examinations using AACRAO EDGE and/or a NACES-certified foreign credential evaluation, and that an evaluation received after a decision does not change the decision or the GPA (Policy SE004: undergraduate admissions (PDF)). If you order an evaluation, send it before you are admitted.
Graduate applicants
PennWest's graduate page asks for official transcripts in English, sent directly from the institution, or an unofficial English transcript with a confirmation email from the university; as an alternative, you may request a course-by-course evaluation with GPA from WES (preferred) or a NACES member (International admissions: graduate).
WES requires a word-for-word translation by a professional translator for documents not in English (WES).

Documents applicants usually translate
- High school transcripts, every page
- National examination results and diploma
- University transcripts, every page
- Bank documents for the I-20, if not in English
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to PennWest
Undergraduates submit the transcripts and their translations with the PennWest online application by June 1 for fall or November 1 for spring (International admissions: undergraduate).
Graduate applicants who use WES send the translation to WES with their records; WES sends PennWest the course-by-course evaluation (International admissions: graduate).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For PennWest that means we translate your transcripts page by page; a NACES or WES evaluation, if you need one, comes from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does PennWest need my transcripts translated?
Yes, page by page, if they are not in English (catalog).
My transcripts are in Spanish. Do I need a translation?
PennWest's catalog says Spanish-language transcripts may be submitted as an English transcript would be (PennWest undergraduate catalog, Fall 2022 (PDF)).
Who can translate them?
PennWest does not say (PennWest undergraduate catalog, Fall 2022 (PDF)). A certified translation from a professional service qualifies.
Do I need a credential evaluation for PennWest?
Not always: PennWest uses AACRAO EDGE and/or a NACES evaluation (Policy SE004: undergraduate admissions (PDF)). Graduate applicants may use WES as an alternative to English transcripts (International admissions: graduate).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
