How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Slippery Rock University (SRU) asks international undergraduates for official, English-translated copies of their secondary and college records, and graduate applicants for an official certified English translation of any transcript not issued in English; it does not say who must translate.
Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
SRU's International Admissions office evaluates foreign credits itself, so an outside evaluation is not required, only encouraged for some graduate programs.
SRU at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
SRU asks for "official, English-translated copies" of records (international admissions) and, for graduate applicants, an "official certified English translation" (graduate admissions), without restricting who translates; a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. SRU reads your translated records itself
Unlike many Pennsylvania universities, SRU does not send applicants to an evaluation agency.
Its undergraduate checklist asks for official, English-translated copies of all course work, listing subjects and marks, school certificates, diplomas and examination results (International admissions), and credits from international universities are evaluated by International Admissions, reachable at international.admissions@sru.edu (Transfer credit evaluation).
Transfer applicants can ask for a preliminary transfer evaluation with unofficial copies in PDF format; original transcripts are needed to transfer credits officially at enrollment (International admissions).
Secondary records are required only if you have less than one year of accredited post-secondary study.
Graduate applicants: certified true copies and a certified translation
The graduate page asks for official, certified true copies of every post-secondary transcript, bearing the school seal and the issuer's signature and sent from the school when possible; a document not issued in English must come with an official certified English translation (International graduate student admissions).
Everything is uploaded in the application portal, or mailed to the Graduate International Admission office.
International graduate applicants are not required to use an evaluation company, but SRU highly encourages WES or a similar agency when a program has extensive prerequisites (International graduate student admissions). If you decide to order one, the agency applies its own translation rule.
Need a certified translation for SRU?

- University transcripts and diplomas
- Graduate transcripts with the school seal (certified true copies)

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to SRU
Upload the records and their translations in the SRU application portal; graduate applicants may also mail print materials to the Graduate International Admission office (undergraduate, graduate).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For SRU that means we translate your records; SRU evaluates them itself, and an outside evaluation, if you choose one, comes from an agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Slippery Rock require a credential evaluation?
No. International Admissions evaluates international credits (Transfer credit evaluation); graduate applicants are encouraged but not required to use WES or a similar agency (International graduate student admissions).
What kind of translation does SRU want?
Official, English-translated copies for undergraduates and an official certified English translation for graduate applicants; who translates is not stated (International admissions, graduate).
Do I need my high school records if I studied at a university?
Only if you completed less than one year at an accredited post-secondary institution (International admissions).
Can I get a preliminary credit review before I apply?
Yes, with the International Preliminary Transfer Evaluation Form and unofficial PDF copies (International admissions).
