How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Northwest Nazarene University publishes no translation rule of its own: international applicants may be asked to have their high school or college transcripts evaluated, and NNU recommends WES, course by course for any university study, while accepting any NACES member.
NNU's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the agency writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.

NNU requirements in detail
Translation
NNU states no translation rule; transcripts from abroad reach it through an evaluation when requested. The translation is what the agency needs before it can evaluate a document not in English.
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency (see below).
Evaluation
High school and/or college transcripts may need evaluation; WES recommended, any NACES member accepted (NNU: international student transcript evaluation).
Report type
Course-by-course if you completed any university-level coursework (NNU: international student transcript evaluation).
Timing
WES usually takes 7 to 10 days once it has every required document; list NNU as a recipient (NNU: international student transcript evaluation).
Start terms
Fall (August) or spring (January); graduate applicants contact the department (NNU: international students).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
NNU names WES and accepts any NACES member (transcript evaluation).
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or service, does not accept translations by applicants and does not translate documents itself.
ECE accepts complete, literal translations in the original's format, lets applicants translate themselves, and sells an $85 Translation Waiver.
NNU stresses following WES's required documents for your country of study, since a missing item is what delays the report. Translate every page, stamps included, before you open the WES application; WES then needs about 7 to 10 days.
When NNU asks for an evaluation
NNU says applicants may be requested to have transcripts evaluated, which means the request can come after you apply (NNU: international student transcript evaluation).
If you studied at a university abroad, the report should be course by course; for high school only, ask admissions which type it needs.
Having the translation ready shortens the wait, since the 7 to 10 days begin only when WES has every document.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to NNU
The translation goes to WES or another NACES agency with your records; WES takes it in your WES account. List Northwest Nazarene University as a recipient so the report reaches admissions (NNU: international student transcript evaluation).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For NNU that means we translate your records for the agency; the evaluation is ordered by you from WES or another NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions

Do I need a course-by-course evaluation?
