Mott Community College asks student visa applicants for a transcript in English, along with the original, for high school and for every college attended; it does not say who produces the English version.

Mott Community College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

An evaluation from a foreign credentials service is optional for admission, but transfer credit from abroad needs a NACES evaluation, which we do not provide.

Mott at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Mott's student visa page asks for a transcript in English along with the original and does not restrict who makes the English version (applying for student visa); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary, submitted with the original, is that kind of document. Mott requirements in detail

Translation

A transcript in English, along with an original, showing completion of high school, and one from each college or university attended (Applying for student visa).

Who may translate

Evaluation (admission)

Optional: to translate foreign credits into US equivalents you may use ECE, Foundation for International Services, WES or International Consultants of Delaware (Foreign education evaluation services).

Transfer credit

International transcripts must first be evaluated by a NACES member (International students with other visas).

Bank statement

On bank letterhead, printed in English with the balance converted into US dollars, at least $22,044, within six months (Applying for student visa).

Other requirements

A notarized Affidavit of Support (I-134), the sponsor's employer letter, and a $7,500 certified check placed in your account for first-year tuition (Applying for student visa).

Residents on other visas

Holders of F-2, E-2, H-1B, J-2 or L-2 status, TPS holders, undocumented students and pending permanent residents apply through International Admissions, with documents at least one month before the semester (International students with other visas).

An English transcript, sent with the original

Mott words its rule as a pair: a transcript in English, along with an original, first for high school completion and then for each college or university you attended (applying for student visa).

It does not say that the English version must come from the school, so a certified translation sent together with the original transcript fits the rule.

Translate the whole record, including grading legends and stamps, since Mott reads completion from it.

The financial file is stricter than at most colleges: a statement on bank letterhead printed in English with the balance converted into US dollars, a notarized I-134 from a supporter, a letter from the supporter's employer, and a certified check for $7,500 that Mott holds in your account for first-year tuition and refunds under its policy if the visa is refused (Applying for student visa). Ask the bank for the English statement directly.

Evaluations: optional for admission, NACES for credit

For admission, an evaluation is a choice: Mott says you may use a foreign credentials evaluation service to translate your credits into US equivalents and lists ECE, Foundation for International Services, WES and International Consultants of Delaware (evaluation services).

For transfer credit, the International Admissions page for non-immigrant students says international transcripts must first be evaluated by a NACES member (International students with other visas).

That page covers applicants already in the US on visas such as F-2, E-2, H-1B, J-2 or L-2, with TPS, undocumented, or with a pending green card. Agencies set their own translation rules; see translation for credential evaluation.

  • Degree certificates, if the transcript does not show the degree
  • Mark sheets and grading scales that come with the transcripts

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Mott

  • Send the original transcripts with their certified translations to the Mott Admissions Office, 1401 E. Court St., Flint, MI 48503, with the application and financial documents (Applying for student visa).

  • Non-immigrant applicants email PDF copies of their status documents to International Admissions, with their name and "Non-immigrant" in the subject line (International students with other visas).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Mott that means we translate your transcripts and diplomas to send with the originals; the bank statement must come in English from the bank, and the NACES evaluation for credit comes from an evaluation agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

What does Mott mean by a transcript in English?

An English version sent together with the original transcript, for high school and every college attended (Applying for student visa). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary, with the original, fits that rule.

Do I need a credential evaluation to be admitted to Mott?

No; it is optional for admission (Foreign education evaluation services). It is required for transfer credit, from a NACES member (International students with other visas).

Does my bank statement need a translation?

Mott asks for a statement printed in English with the balance in US dollars, so ask the bank for an English statement (Applying for student visa).

What is the $7,500 check?

A certified check placed in your Mott account toward first-year tuition, refunded under the college's policy if the visa is not approved (Applying for student visa).

I live in the US on a dependent visa. How do I apply?

Through International Admissions as a non-immigrant student, with documents at least one month before the semester (International students with other visas).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
