How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Morehead State University publishes no translation rule: international undergraduates with any college-level coursework need a WES evaluation, and graduate applicants with a degree from outside the US need a credential evaluation from a NACES member, sent directly to MSU.
Morehead State's evaluation agencies, such as WES, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.

Morehead State requirements in detail
Translation
No rule of its own; the graduate page notes that an evaluation is different from a translation (Graduate admission process for international students).
Who may translate
Set by the agency: WES wants a professional translator; ECE accepts any complete, word-for-word translation.
Undergraduate
Original, official high school transcript showing graduation; a WES evaluation if you have any college-level coursework; GPA at least 2.50 (Undergraduate admission process for international students).
Graduate
A credential evaluation from a NACES member, sent directly to Morehead State; not needed for a US degree (Graduate admission process for international students).
Financial documents
Original, official, on bank letterhead, in English and less than three months old (Graduate admission process for international students).
Timing
After applying, MSU emails the list of missing items; admission can take several months for two-tier programs such as Nursing (Undergraduate admission process for international students).
An evaluation, not a translation, is what MSU reads
Morehead State spells out the difference itself: a translation turns a document from one language into another, while a credential evaluation tells MSU what your foreign studies equal in the US, with GPA, degrees and hours (graduate admission).
Graduate applicants pick any organization on the NACES list, send it the documents as it instructs, and have the final evaluation sent directly to MSU.
Undergraduates need WES as soon as they have any college-level coursework (undergraduate admission). The translation is the step before: the agency needs it for any document not in English.
What WES and ECE ask for the translation
WES asks for an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation service, and does not accept translations by applicants.
Graduate applicants may also choose ECE or another NACES member: ECE accepts complete, word-for-word translations, including your own, and sells an $85 translation waiver.
Bank documents are a separate matter: MSU wants them on official letterhead and in English (Graduate admission process for international students), so a statement issued in another language needs a translation as well.

Uploading the translation to Morehead State
The translation goes to WES or the NACES agency with your records; the agency sends the evaluation directly to Morehead State (Graduate admission process for international students).
Other items are listed in the emails MSU sends after you apply, and questions go to international@moreheadstate.edu (Undergraduate admission process for international students).
On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Morehead State that means we translate your records and bank documents; the WES or NACES evaluation is ordered by you from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Morehead State require a certified translation?
It requires an evaluation rather than a translation: WES for college coursework, a NACES member for graduate degrees (Undergraduate admission process for international students). The agency asks for the translation; WES wants a professional translator (WES).
I only finished high school abroad. Do I need WES?
Morehead asks for the official high school transcript showing graduation; WES is required only if you have college-level coursework (Undergraduate admission process for international students).
Which agency can graduate applicants use?
Any organization on the NACES list, sending the evaluation directly to MSU (Graduate admission process for international students).
Does my bank letter need to be in English?
Yes: on official bank letterhead, in English, and less than three months old (Graduate admission process for international students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
