How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

Minot State University requires international first-year students to have their high school credentials evaluated by WES or ECE, requesting a document-by-document evaluation sent to Minot State, at the applicant's cost; Canadian applicants with university study also go through WES or ECE, which convert marks to a GPA.

Minot State's evaluation agencies, WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. You translate first and send the translation to the agency; the evaluation is something we do not produce.

What WES and ECE ask for the translation

WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency, does not accept translations by applicants and does not translate documents itself.

ECE accepts any complete, literal translation in the same format as the original, including your own, or translates internally for an $85 waiver, with no translation delivered to you. A certified translation from eVerbary works for both.

A document-by-document report

Minot State asks first-year applicants for a document-by-document evaluation, not course by course, so that WES or ECE can send Minot State an official evaluation of your high school credentials (International admission requirements).

Translate the diploma, the transcripts and any national exam certificates before you open the evaluation, and choose Minot State as recipient.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Minot State that means we translate your credentials; the WES or ECE evaluation is ordered by you from the agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Which evaluation does Minot State want for my high school record?

A document-by-document evaluation from WES or ECE (International admission requirements).

Does WES translate my documents?

No. WES requires a translation from a professional translator (WES).

Can I translate my records myself?

For ECE, yes, if complete and word for word (ECE). WES does not accept it.

Who pays for the evaluation?

You do (International admission requirements).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
