Requirements checked on October 28, 2026 from MCNY's public pages (sources).
Metropolitan College of New York accepts evaluations of foreign transcripts only from NACES members, naming SpanTran, ECE, WES and IFCS, with a general evaluation for high school and a course-by-course one for college; its international FAQ also asks transfer applicants for official transcripts certified and translated to English, without saying who translates.
MCNY's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records; the agency then writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.

Sample translation: a Congolese secondary school transcript
This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with a fictitious student. The PDF starts with the signed certification page, and the translation follows the original line for line: every abbreviation is explained, stamps, seals and signatures are noted in brackets, and the grid stays the same, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice
- Two school years in the same grid as the original: every subject, grading period, exam and total, so each grade can be read against its maximum.
- The French rating abbreviations are translated (TB becomes VG, Very good), and every abbreviation is explained in a translator's note at the foot of the same page, including one the original never defines.
- Dates are written the US way (the original's 02/07/2015 is February 7, 2015).
- The photo, seals and signatures are noted in brackets where they appear.

MCNY requirements in detail
Translation
Transfer applicants: official transcripts "certified and translated to English" from each college attended (international FAQ). The evaluation agency also needs the translation before it can evaluate a document not in English.
Who may translate
Not stated by MCNY. WES and ECE accept a translation from a professional service; TEC (SpanTran) accepts outside translators certified by ATA.
Evaluation
Only from NACES members: SpanTran, ECE, WES, IFCS or another member; general evaluation for high school, course-by-course for college (International transcript evaluations and translations).
Official delivery
Preferably emailed by the agency to your admissions counselor, or mailed to the Admissions Office; paper copies or emails from students are recorded as unofficial (International transcript evaluations and translations).
Graduate programs
The MPA programs and the MSEd require an evaluation for schooling outside the US; the MSEd page names WES, ECE or Globe Language Services (graduate admission).
Deadlines
April 1 for summer, August 1 for fall, December 1 for spring (International students and FAQ).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
MCNY names three agencies with published translation rules. WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency, and does not translate documents itself.
ECE asks for complete, word-for-word translations in the same format as the original, lets applicants prepare them, and sells an $85 Translation Waiver under which it translates internally for the report.
The Evaluation Company (SpanTran), which offers MCNY students a discount and charges translation separately, accepts an outside translator only if certified by the American Translators Association; eVerbary can assign one on request through a free quote.
Where MCNY's pages differ
The evaluations page accepts reports only from NACES members (evaluations and translations).
The MSEd requirements list WES, ECE or Globe Language Services (graduate admission), while the international FAQ names WES, ECE or SpanTran for the same program (international FAQ).
If you apply to the MSEd, confirm with Admissions which agency it will accept before you order; WES and ECE appear on all three pages.
High school, college and graduate applicants
MCNY's evaluations page sets the report by level: applicants with high school transcripts and diplomas need a general evaluation, those with college or university transcripts a course-by-course one (International transcript evaluations and translations).
For transfers, the FAQ says an external NACES evaluation may be required for universities in non-English-speaking countries, alongside transcripts certified and translated to English (International students and FAQ).
Need a certified translation for MCNY?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- High school transcripts and diploma, for a general evaluation
- College or university transcripts, for a course-by-course evaluation
- Degree certificates and grading scales
- Exam result slips, such as WAEC/WASSCE, where they apply
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to MCNY
The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records; the agency then emails the evaluation to your MCNY admissions counselor or mails it to the Admissions Office (International transcript evaluations and translations).
eVerbary delivers a signed PDF; on request we can also email the translation directly to the admissions office.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For MCNY that means we translate your transcripts; the general or course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from a NACES member, which sends it to MCNY.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Which evaluation agencies does MCNY accept?
Only NACES members: SpanTran, ECE, WES, IFCS or another member (International transcript evaluations and translations).
Do transfer applicants need a certified translation?
The FAQ asks for official transcripts certified and translated to English from each college attended (International students and FAQ). It does not say who translates; a certified translation from eVerbary qualifies.
Can I send the evaluation myself?
It will be recorded as unofficial. The agency should email it to your admissions counselor or mail it to the Admissions Office (International transcript evaluations and translations).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for SpanTran?
Yes, on request. Ask for a free quote and say it is for The Evaluation Company. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English; no other languages.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
