Translation

Who may translate
Not stated.
How they arrive
Usually through the Common Application or in a sealed envelope from the high school counselor, with updated transcripts during the year (Lewis & Clark: international application checklist).
Financial documents
Employer, bank and tax office documents for the Certificate of Financial Responsibility, with an English translation if not in English and the currency marked (Lewis & Clark: international application checklist).
ESL programs
A transcript from any ESL program attended in the US (Lewis & Clark: international application checklist).
Deadlines
Early Decision and Early Action: November 1 (Lewis & Clark: international students).
Translations for grades and for money
Lewis & Clark wants two versions of every transcript: the official one in its original language and an officially translated English copy (international checklist).
That covers secondary school and any college study, plus an ESL program in the US.
The same checklist asks for an English translation of each financial document behind the Certificate of Financial Responsibility, from employers, banks or the tax office, and for the currency to be shown when amounts are not in US dollars.
A certified translation keeps the figures and currency exactly as printed.
Counselor, Common App and transfers
Transcripts usually go through the Common Application or in a sealed envelope from your counselor (Lewis & Clark: international application checklist); give the counselor the certified translation so it goes with the transcript.
Transfer applicants follow the transfer checklist: official transcripts come directly from the schools or a transcription service, and copies provided by applicants are not considered official (transfer checklist).
International students are considered for need- and merit-based aid automatically, including the Davis United World College Scholars grant of up to $40,000 a year (Lewis & Clark: international students).

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Lewis & Clark
Upload the transcript and its certified translation through the Common Application, or give both to your counselor to send in a sealed envelope (Lewis & Clark: international application checklist). eVerbary can email the translation directly to the Office of Admissions on request.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
