Lehman College requires graduate applicants educated outside the US, including permanent residents and naturalized citizens, to submit a translation and an evaluation for each post-secondary school, and the translation must be a notarized English translation that follows CUNY's Document Translation Guidelines, which accept a translation agency.

Documents not in English need an English translation following CUNY's guidelines; the evaluation package must include a notarized English translation (Graduate admissions: students educated outside the US).

Lehman is one of the few CUNY colleges that asks for notarization: the evaluation package must include a notarized English translation for any document in another language, and Lehman links CUNY's Document Translation Guidelines for the format (Graduate admissions: students educated outside the US).
Those guidelines want the translation complete and literal, in the same layout as the original, on letterhead and signed by a translator who knows the language; a translation agency qualifies, you and your family do not (CUNY Document Translation Guidelines (PDF)).

The rule is not limited to visa holders. Lehman applies it to anyone who completed post-secondary study outside the US: international students, permanent residents, naturalized citizens and students who studied abroad (Graduate admissions: students educated outside the US).
Choosing an agency from Lehman's table

Agencies have their own translation rules, and The Evaluation Company, for example, accepts outside translations only from a translator certified by ATA (TEC), which eVerbary can assign through a free quote.
