How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Kalamazoo Valley Community College requires a transcript from a previous university outside the US to be evaluated by SpanTran, Educational Perspectives, WES or ECE before transfer credit is considered, and the F-1 bank letter must be in English or accompanied by an English translation.
Kalamazoo Valley's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and Educational Perspectives, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The evaluation itself is something we do not produce.

Kalamazoo Valley requirements in detail
Translation
No rule for academic records; foreign university transcripts reach KVCC through the evaluation (International forms and resources).
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency; see below.
Evaluation
A previous university outside the US: evaluated by SpanTran, Educational Perspectives, WES or ECE (International forms and resources).
Bank letter
Dated within 30 days, in English or with an English translation, stamped and signed by the bank, for at least $23,000 (new students).
Uploads
Passport page, bank statement and English proof go to the International Admissions portal (International new students).
Credit
Awarded at the discretion of Admissions, Records and Registration, only for courses that correlate with KVCC's curriculum (International forms and resources).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not translate. ECE accepts any complete, literal translation, including your own, or translates internally for an $85 waiver.
Educational Perspectives accepts a reputable agency or certified professional translator. SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, requires an ATA-certified translator; for it, eVerbary can assign one through a free quote.
The bank letter rule
Kalamazoo Valley is strict about the bank letter: dated within the last 30 days, in the name of the sponsor, in English or with an English translation, carrying an official bank stamp and a bank official's signature, and showing at least $23,000 available for immediate withdrawal (International new students).
If your bank issues it in another language, translate it within the 30-day window; most eVerbary orders are delivered within a few hours.
Need a certified translation for Kalamazoo Valley?

Documents applicants usually translate
- University transcripts and degree certificates, for transfer credit
- Bank letter, if not in English
- Course descriptions, if the evaluator asks
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Kalamazoo Valley
The translation of your university records goes to the evaluator; the bank letter and its translation are uploaded to the International Admissions portal (International new students).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Kalamazoo Valley that means we translate your records and bank letter; the evaluation for transfer credit comes from SpanTran, EP, WES or ECE.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Which evaluators does Kalamazoo Valley accept?
SpanTran, Educational Perspectives, WES and ECE (International forms and resources).
Does my bank letter need a translation?
Yes, if it is not in English (International new students).
Will all my foreign credits transfer?
Credit is at KVCC's discretion and only for courses that correlate with its curriculum (International forms and resources).
Can I translate my own records for the evaluation?
For ECE, yes, if complete and word for word (ECE). WES does not accept translations by applicants (WES).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
