How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Hawkeye Community College requires students who went to high school outside the US to have their transcripts and certificates translated before sending them, by a professional or with a notary, and college records from abroad to be translated and evaluated by a professional service; official translations must reach Hawkeye directly from the translating service, as originals, never photocopies.
Hawkeye Community College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, and eVerbary can send the translation to Hawkeye for you. Any evaluation comes from an evaluation service, not from us.
Hawkeye at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Hawkeye says high school translations "can be done by a professional" and that college records must be translated by a professional service (foreign diploma and transcript evaluation); it endorses no service and points to the American Translators Association's directory. Hawkeye requirements in detail
Translation (high school)
Transcripts and certificates translated before sending, by a professional or with a notary (Foreign diploma and transcript evaluation).
Translation (college)
Official transcripts translated and evaluated by a professional service (Foreign diploma and transcript evaluation).
Who may translate
A professional; Hawkeye recommends no service and refers to the ATA's list of qualified translators (Foreign diploma and transcript evaluation).
Delivery
Official translations and evaluations sent directly by the translating or evaluating service, by mail or electronically; only original translations, no photocopies (Foreign diploma and transcript evaluation).
Evaluation
High school documents need to be translated and evaluated, and evaluated even if in English; the evaluation must include required national exam results (Foreign diploma and transcript evaluation; international students).
Address
International Students (F-1 VISA), Attn: Admissions, Hawkeye Community College, 1501 East Orange Road, Waterloo, Iowa 50704-8015 (Foreign diploma and transcript evaluation).
The translation has to come from the translator
Hawkeye is strict about delivery: official translations and evaluations must be sent directly to the college by the translating or evaluating service, by mail or electronically, and only original translations are accepted, never photocopies (Foreign diploma and transcript evaluation).
Documents go in the original language together with the English translation. eVerbary can email the translation directly to Hawkeye's admissions office on request, or mail it in a sealed, signed envelope: choose the hard copy at checkout with the office's address ($19.95 Priority or $37.95 Express in the US) and write in the order notes that it is for Hawkeye Community College.
Where Hawkeye's pages differ
The handbook page says high school transcripts are translated and then reviewed by the International Student Admissions and Services office, yet the same page and the international students page say all high school documents need to be translated and evaluated, and that documents already in English still need an evaluation for admission.
Plan for both, and ask the admissions office which applies to you. Hawkeye suggests NACES members for evaluations.

Uploading the translation to Hawkeye
The translating service sends the official translation directly to Hawkeye, Attn: Admissions, 1501 East Orange Road, Waterloo, Iowa 50704-8015, or electronically (Foreign diploma and transcript evaluation).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Hawkeye that means we translate your records and can send the translation directly; the evaluation comes from an evaluation service such as a NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Hawkeye accept a translation from a translation company?

Can I send the translation myself?
Hawkeye wants official translations sent directly by the translating service, as originals (Foreign diploma and transcript evaluation). eVerbary can send it on request.
Do I need an evaluation of my high school documents?
Hawkeye's pages say high school documents need to be translated and evaluated (International students).
